Living off of crypto in pandemic times, a real life story

in hive-175254 •  4 years ago

We talk almost day and night of crypto around here, we hear and read about projects that promise to do that or the other and it always seems to be about the future, of what's to come rather than what is, but how often do we hear or read of real life use cases of cryptocurrencies, of how those are changing lives, or supporting one's life during challenging times.

There were a few stories on leofinance about some users from Venezuela who manage to make a living out of blogging and I am thrilled to be hearing of such, this is what I call for now real life use cases for crypto by the way, but I wanted to hear more, and one top of that I hope to one day be in the position to live a decent life off of crypto. It's not about me or Venezuela today, it's about a fellow pizza guy from Austria.

My parents live there for a few years and over the time they made themselves some friends and know a few Romanian folks around there. What's that have that do with crypto? Well it does, as I talked crypto with them ever since I bought my first litecoins and almost tricked my father in getting into ETH, but for now he's still a fiat guy. Honestly I don't even know if he'd knew how to use a wallet properly and sooner or later he might have sent the coins to a wrong address or something like that so not so much regrets in here.

They go to a pizzeria in their little town quite often, and over there a Romanian fellow works, to whom they chat every time they go there, and during the pandemic they haven't seem him that often, until a couple a days ago, when they meet him after all this time they asked how he was doing, how's the pizzeria doing during Corona time, when most of the small businesses are suffering, and he said that he wasn't doing good at all, as he hasn't got his monthly paycheck in over three months.

Before the pandemic he was doing pretty fine and on top of the monthly salary he was getting almost an extra salary as well from tips, and where do you think some of the money was going every month? Joints?... Probably, but he bought crypto as well, because when they asked him how did he survived this time with no salary he basically said crypto saved me, and when they told me that, I was so amazed to hear that a pizza delivery guy was owning crypto and that crypto saves his ass during those shitty times in the world.

From what my parents told me, he owns ETH and luckily he bought when it was quite cheap, they didn't ask how much he owns, and they wouldn't know the value of it anyway, but ETH paid this guys rent and other expenses the last three months. He said that he was really lucky to own those coins, because he could sell some and pay for his monthly expenses. I know, it wasn't probably the best time to sell ETH, but the rent has to be paid every month and the money have to come from somewhere.

Moreover he is planning to leave Austria and that Italian's pizzeria who doesn't pays his salary and move back to Romania living off of crypto. They also mentioned that his brother is also into crypto and that he didn't had to work this year as he managed to make some €15,000 from crypto, which in here is quite a nice amount. How he's done that? Probably smart investing, or trading, I really don't know, but gradually we're seeing people around the world turning towards crypto as a means of making a living.

@mindtrap was also telling his story a few days ago on how crypto helped him this year with his business. That's what I call mass adoption, when people can pay for their bills with money made from crypto and the cherry on the pie will be the moment when we will have the opportunity to spend crypto, on daily expenses and in many more ways than we currently have, by that time it will hopefully won't be that volatile anymore as @taskmaster4450 pointed out in a video yesterday.

I don't know how you guys find this story, but it made me smile and feel like my time spent in this crypto sphere is not wasted at all and also give me a lot of hopes for the future. 2021 will either by massive, or the year I'm out of this. I know it sounds like a bet I had on BTC a few days ago, that I lost, but in my case 2021 is the intersection year where crypto has to finally become a true source of income, through my quite long term investments and blogging activity, or something that I won't be able to dedicate that much time and energy anymore.

I guess I'll have to talks to my parents next time they might the pizza guy to tell him about Hive and Leo. He might join in. Hope you're having a great day and see you to the next one.

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

I was smiling while reading this, with good testimonies like this there will be more people interested in cryptocurrency and the advantages that comes with popularity becomes inevitable.
