Widening gap between the rich and the poor and a deed for an equitable society.

Greetings friends!

If you were asked why you're engaged in a job or business, chances are high that you'd cite reasons like job satisfaction or striving to achieve certain goals. However, the truth often revolves around one fundamental factor: money. Money serves as the ultimate motivator, driving both the wealthiest individuals and the most economically disadvantaged to labor tirelessly. Indeed, money wields such influence that it can propel individuals to work diligently and in desperate circumstances, resort to criminal activities as well.

Money reigns supreme in our lives, exerting a profound impact on our economies, societal structures, and even the course of history. But how did money ascend to this position of unparalleled importance? It was intended to serve as a facilitator, a means of exchange in place of the cumbersome barter system that was prevalent in the ancient time. However, its evolution into a dominant force was not without its inequalities and injustices.

Consider the arbitrary nature of money's origins. A ruler could announce anything as currency. He could have declared cowry shells or salt as money, bestowing disproportionate wealth upon those who had proximity to the chosen resource. Consequently, individuals with access to abundant resources, such as seaside dwellers or salt miners, could amass huge wealth with minimal effort, while those toiling in agriculture or labor struggled to attain similar prosperity. This disparity underscores the fallacy that hard work alone guarantees wealth.

The transformative power of money extends beyond mere transactions. It grants access to a plethora of privileges and luxuries, enabling the affluent to secure vast estates, employ lots of servants, and enjoy a life of relative ease. Conversely, those lacking financial means contend with basic necessities such as clean water, adequate nutrition, and essential healthcare. The chasm between the wealthy and the impoverished is widening. Poor are marginalized and stigmatized by society.

For the economically disadvantaged, life is a perpetual struggle against scarcity. Deprived of the most rudimentary comforts, they have to endure hardships in long queues for meager provisions and confront the specter of destitution with each passing day. Desperation often drives individuals to engage in illicit activities like petty theft, drug trafficking and prostitution etc. in a bid to secure their survival.

Moreover, the financial gap exacerbates disparities in healthcare access. While the affluent can afford premium medical services, the poor are condemned to substandard services or, worse, left to languish without treatment. Inadequate government support further deteriorates the plight of the impoverished, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and ill health.

The escalating problem of inequality is aggravated by the burgeoning global population. In older time, when populations were sparse, individuals could seek sustenance and shelter in the wilderness. However, in today's world, survival in such conditions is no longer feasible, as forests and natural habitats are often government-owned and inaccessible to the general populace. Consequently, many find themselves trapped in dire circumstances with limited avenues for improvement.

The widening gap between the affluent and the impoverished is fuelling a growing sense of discontent among the disadvantaged. As the earnings gap between the rich and the poor continues to widen, feelings of resentment and injustice are smouldering beneath the surface. If left unchecked, these sentiments have the potential to spark unrest and upheaval, posing a significant threat to stability of the society.

It is necessary for the wealthy to exercise restraint and foresight in their pursuit of wealth and privilege. Greed-driven actions that exacerbate disparities and deprive others of resources only increasing tensions and sowing the seeds of future conflict. Instead, embracing a more equitable distribution of resources and opportunities is not only morally justifiable but also conducive to long-term societal harmony and prosperity.

In essence, money wields unparalleled influence over our lives. It dictates our access to resources, opportunities, and even basic dignity. Its unequal distribution emphasizes the urgent need for systemic reforms to rectify entrenched disparities and foster a more equitable society. Only through concerted efforts to address economic injustices we may hope to dismantle the barriers that perpetuate poverty and ensure a brighter future for all.
