Breaking the chain of financial societal standard.

It is quite unfortunate that people require that you belong to a certain societal standard or must have gotten certain life achievements before they show you respect. I always find it confusing that humans think this way and the truth is, it annoys me greatly.
I was at a place to get some documents earlier today, and I saw a young man intentionally being delayed and disrespected over an item he would have gotten so conveniently, and few moments later, there was another man who walked in with all the privileges of life people would usually appreciate, and of course, he was attended to almost instantly.

I was very angry, but there was nothing I could do in that situation, but wish that things were different, as I myself was in a position where I was treated unjustly as I did not have these so-called life privileges. This behavior is unfair and disgusting, as it settles some people to a point where they are stigmatized and embarrassed for a very long time.

When shame sets in for an individual, it could result in a long cycle of self-blame, and if this cycle is left unchecked, it could trigger mental health concerns and make it very difficult for the affected person to actually move forward.

This bad system of treating people unfairly as a result of what they could afford could lead to a tense sense of fear and discrimination. When this gets intense, it could possibly create a situation of social exclusion, job loss, and other forms of discrimination. This fear could be so strong that the affected person just wants to stay away and avoid seeking help completely.

With the intense treatment gotten from society every day, some people probably do not have anyone to comfortably speak to, which may just result in substance or alcohol abuse. This will definitely affect their mental health and could even create a cycle of self-harm.

I remember when my sister had a shop, she always told her staff myself included whenever I went there to help, not to discriminate between customers. According to her, every customer is just as valuable as the other, either one is spending one dollar and the other is spending a hundred dollars, and she doesn't want to us to treat any of them with any less regard.

This principle that she strongly upheld made her student customers at the time extremely comfortable to come around to make purchases no matter how little it was, we need more in the society who will have and share this thought as well for us to have a more sane society.
