Strategic Planning as a key tool for organizational change.

Currently, planning is the structuring of a series of actions that are carried out to meet certain objectives as well as choosing the means to achieve them and evaluate the results. Every planning process begins with a diagnosis of the current situation and then short, medium and long term objectives are proposed, which are specified with pre and post intervention indicators; then the activities, the schedule and the necessary budget are established.

It should be noted that planning began in the economy with the Soviet revolution (1917), when the means of production were expropriated and placed under the management of the State. It was there that the notion of centralized planning of the economy emerged, the new socialist government established five-year plans aimed at national objectives, such as the development of heavy industry. However, the economic crisis and recession of capitalism in 1929 and the post World War II period demanded a strong political state power to plan reconstruction and introduced certain roles for the state, as in the theories of J. Keynes and the strategies of industrialization by import substitution.

In this sense, the origins of planning in Latin America are known from the middle of the decade of the fifties when they had increased and it should be emphasized that it was only in the following decade when these activities gained real momentum and in fact, the generalized acceptance at official level of planning as an instrument to promote development appears closely linked to the resolutions of the Conference of Punta del Este in 1961, in the course of which undoubtedly marks a milestone of singular importance in the history of planning in Latin America.

It should be noted that strategic planning is based on a process of documenting and establishing guidelines for the organization, assessing where it is and where it is going, thus proposing, if possible, to establish the mission, vision, values, long-term objectives and action plans to be used to achieve them, when strategic planning is well structured can play a key role in the growth and success of the company, This type of strategic planning focuses on the integration of various business departments such as accounting, research and development, production, marketing, information systems and management to achieve the organization's objectives.

In this sense, strategic planning provides a real framework for both leaders and members of the organization to understand and evaluate the organization's situation. This helps to align the team so that they use a common language based on the same information, which will help the emergence of profitable and valuable alternatives for the organization. The strategic plan of an organization establishes the tasks of each member, which ensures that the actions of each one are directed towards the fulfillment of future goals.
