Hello friends, in this opportunity I would like to share with you the reasons why I believe that the United States could accelerate the production of shale oil, although it is true that operationally and logistically oil production is more profitable from conventional fields, there are multiple reasons why this country will reach the point where it will have to do without the production of this type of hydrocarbons.
Unconventional oil fields such as shale sands are oil reserves that are very difficult to exploit due to the high investment that must be made for their exploitation, however in the United States there are shale fields that can be exploited, the propitious scenario for these fields to be exploited is that the prices of oil and gas reach the prices of the past.
Once prices are attractive, these shale oil fields will surely be reactivated and operations will be launched to obtain a profitable production due to the high oil prices.
Another reason why shale fields will be the next tool to increase oil production is because there is not enough drilling equipment available to drill more deep wells, which is why it would be economically attractive to exploit oil from shale fields.
This scenario may not be very credible when looking at historical production records, since investment to exploit shale oil has been very minimal in the past, but it has all been due to low oil prices and how difficult it is to extract, however under a scenario where prices pick up again and with drilling equipment capable of producing shale oil, the most likely scenario is that the United States can increase its production based on shale oil.
In particular, I think that not anywhere in the world could afford to exploit this type of shale oil deposits due to its high cost, however, it may be that in the United States it could happen, of course, depending on political factors and organizations that worldwide are trying to reduce oil exploitation with the intention of minimizing the impact it has on the environment.
hello @carlos84,
With all that is going on in the US and the delicate economic situation, they may have to cut costs and maximise their oil production. In that sense, extracting oil from their deposits could be a good alternative to maximise their oil profitability.

Certainly my friend, and now even more so as the US government is incorporating public spending and most likely they will need to increase their production.
Greetings and thanks for commenting.

Hi @carlos84 This "unconventional" source of oil and gas,
has been the subject of debates revolving around its availability and profitability.
its availability and profitability. Challenges
challenges concerning exploitation and production capacity, based on
and production capacity, based on the technology and machinery in place, with respect to economic profitability,
and also in relation to the environmental impact it produces, but we know that the USA always surprises us with its energy strategies.

Certainly shale extraction is only viable under a scenario where oil prices are high. Greetings friend and thank you for your valuable comment.
