Negative thoughts make more negative thoughts. It's like a swirling pool pulling you away from safety. If you can't swim, it'll drown you.
1. You search for bad intentions in everything.
Someone cuts you off while driving. Your friend doesn't reply to your message. Your colleague goes to lunch without inviting you. Everyone can find a reason to be constantly upset. But why are you upset? You think harmless actions have bad intentions, taking them as a personal insult.
Happy people don't do that. They don't take things to heart and don't assume bad intentions if there aren't any.
2. You think you're the star of your own movie.
You believe the world revolves around you because you were at the center of everything that happened to you. You wrote the script, know how things should go, and even how it should end. Unfortunately, you forgot to let others read your script. Now people don't know their role, and when they disappoint you, your film is ruined.
Throw away your script. Let someone else be the star for a while. Bring in new characters and think of different plot twists.
3. You're rushing towards the apocalypse.
You have a habit of expecting the worst outcome. If the result is better than a disaster, you're surprised. Negative thoughts create more negative thoughts, pulling you away from safety.
4. You have unrealistic and/or unknown expectations of others.
One of your family and friends' main shortcomings is not being able to read your mind. Did your boyfriend forget your 6.5-month anniversary? Your girlfriend didn't call on time? Your friend doesn't praise your new tattoo? Lower your expectations and be happy.
5. You're waiting for a sign from above.
A friend never decides without a "sign." Waiting for a big announcement from God paralyzes her. While fate plays a role, it's better to take control than let it control you.
6. You avoid taking risks.
Live boldly. When faced with a risky choice, accept it. You'll lose sometimes, but on your deathbed, you'll be glad you didn't give up.
