Greetings to all readers of this great platform, in this opportunity I want to share with you information regarding the new tax that began to be charged in Venezuela, which greatly affects the final consumers, being them who end up paying the tax, just like the value added tax VAT, but this time for the use of foreign currency for the purchase in commercial establishments.

As many know, in Venezuela there was a really strong inflationary process for many years, which led to the process of eliminating several zeros (0) to the currency, with the purpose of generating a new monetary cone, where the bolivar (legal currency in Venezuela) was more accessible for the people, and with this it was possible to obtain a currency with less number but it did not increase its purchasing power.
With this situation, people living in Venezuela, opted for the option of transforming their money into any currency of another country, either U.S. dollar or Colombian pesos, depending on the region of the country in which they are, thus safeguarding their resources in a currency that was not a victim of inflation, and with that money they bought the necessary things when they could require them, being a way to generate security.
With the passing of time the inflationary situation in Venezuela has improved, since currently inflation does not exceed 1 digit, but the habit of acquiring another currency is still in the population, and with the entry into force of the new law regarding taxes on large transactions IGTF, is a new tax to be paid by those who make payments in any type of currency.
This is now a detrimental situation for the final consumers who pay in a currency other than the Bolivar, since they must pay a 3% tax added to the Value Added Tax on each product that is not part of the basic basket, giving us a very high tax between the 2 taxes, which generates a negative situation for the final consumers, increasing the expenses for paying in this type of currency.
Hi @chucho27 Yes, dear friend, I believe that Venezuelans, by using other currencies, have become part of our economic and cultural DNA, we always want to protect what we earn, whether it is much or little, as it is done from the big investors to the most common citizen, greetings and success.
