INTRODUCTION
There is one awesome thing that I've learned while managing project.hope community within these past few months. Many people out there have amazing ideas on "how to stimulate engagement" and all they need to proceed with are proper tools and little bit of support. Just enough to give those ideas a kick head-start.
And today I would like to introduce you to one hell of a great initiative. So stay tuned and don't you dare close this publication yet :)
LEARN AND EARN
One such an idea was born during a few recent conversations I had with someone I've known for very long - user named @hardaeborla, which many of us surely recognize by now.
We've imagined this new initiative, which could potentially bring more traffic to our community, allow people to expand their knowledge and share experiences with one another. And to be rewarded for their valuable participation.
We had a vision, that every week or two we could publish new topics and we would ask readers to do some research about the subcject and expand their current knowledge. Later each user would write a comment explaining what they have learned. And all most valuable comments would receive min 100k SP upvote.
What those topics would be about?
- It could be questions related to blockchain: what is smart contract, what is bitcoin halving, how do you understand Proof of Work (PoW)
- or perhaps something closer to economy and business: "what is quantitive easing, what is deflation and inflation, etc"
And finally, we came up with an idea to launch a new series: "LEARN AND EARN".
We both figured that this name would reflect our goals very well.
WHO DO WE AIM
Our "LEARN AND EARN" series will be focused on several closely related topics:
technology,
blockchain,
artificial intelligence
machine learning
economy,
business,
marketing ,
psychology
OUR FIRST ATTEMPT
Together with @hardaeborla we've managed to discuss this idea and post our first challenge. Check it out right away: LEARN AND EARN challenge - what is bitcoin halving.
It will be fair to say, that it's only up to all of you guys if there will be more similar challenges in the future. I hope to be able to read many valuable and engaging comments.

I wish to point out, comment upvoting could waste a lots of vest in exchange with the amount of $ value sending to the targeted account. There's a reward curve we needed to observed, but I couldn't remember where to find that. In order to topped that reward curve, post reward are suggested to be at 20steem and above, or else the reward curve will be reduced down. Meaning to said, if your account can vote $1.00 at 100% voting weight, voting it on a post with already $3.00 existing, the post will become $4. However, if you vote on a post with $0.00, your $1.00 may turned up like $0.70 or even lower.
I know, it's not about the money. But just to let you know there's so many crappy rules being impose to the HF22.

The most convenient way to steal is, steal from the thieves. This non-linear reward curve were introduced to fight dust vote farming, in order to "save" small payout from going out of the reward pool(so the whales can pocket more clean chunks of bigger payout as long they get pay more), and left us who bank less then $4 wonder why have our income suddenly dropped by half.
So, voting on comment literally giving discount to the post reward and wasting more voting power for less effective curation reward.

I'm pleased to see my comment getting so much of upvote and support. Next best thing I wished for, is a hard fork to do away the reward curve, so to restore to HF21, even better HF20.

Some people actually only vote comments to sort the comments from most interesting to least interesting... This is how even accounts with high reputation can crash to negative reputation.

And what is wrong with that? Some people also like to reward comments on the basis of effort too.
It is far more likely that I will reward comments on the basis of effort, which is my right, because it is my steem power, and now to address:
Highly lacking in crucial information. The information you are lacking in, is that this will only happen if someone disagrees with your voting practices, and has the power to crash your reputation.

There is nothing wrong in "sorting" comments... I was just saying people care more about order of the comments than actual rewards. After the reward structure was changed, it became really hard to get rewards from comments.
What comes to downvoting, it doesn't directly give any rewards, but people do it just for the sake of comment quality. Eventually upvoting better quality comments will give more rewards.

I have always felt downvoting is very negative, but I cannot deny the merit of its use with this system. It's difficult to define abuse however with vastly different ideas of what is right and wrong. Morality is difficult to assign, as it is more of a perceptual knowing feeling than an ideology.

Downvoting is quite negative if it is done out of malice... When you downvote just because someone else downvoted you first...
I mostly downvote low quality comments made by bots, or people who write low quality posts just because they know enough people will upvote all comments and posts made by high reputation people to get more rewards for themselves, so eventually they also get high reputation faster.

I personally do not believe that there is much interests in Steem-engine tokens any more. This train already left the station long time ago.
Right now very few people will probably care about any of those new tokens launched on SE. Most people moved to hive anyway :/

Hello @Crypto.Piotr!! I think this initiative is very important and need to be expanded with more other topics of discussion. I often think that many of the traffic in the blockchain is put instead in servers like discord, with this the incentive to make meaningful and valuable comment increases. The initiative could be multiplied!!

This could turn out to be a superb initiative. If you remember my "Vocab-Ability" series, it operated under the same principle. Even though it was geared towards a limited audience (high-level ESL students), it attracted a regular following. And those who participated in the "Vocab Practice" could both learn and earn.
With this new initiative of yours, you will attract many who are blogging on this platform, but who do not know the ins and outs of cryptos or decentralized platforms. I'm sure it will be very beneficial – in terms of both learning and earning.

I like the concept. I went to the bitcoin halving post... Something I noticed. I want to learn an earn, but seeing all the comment scattered in with facts and commentary makes it overwhelming. I feel as if I will spend more time scanning through comments versus learning the facts. I wish there was a button or tab ro select commentary vs facts. Or maybe color code the difference. Also it would be nice to have vlogs attached and infographics to help with visual learning. Just a suggestion. Overall I like it and plan to see the progress!

Bitcoin halving is a part of the bitcoin protocol that occurs every about 2-3 years ( it's set to be triggered automaticly by a specific amount of blocks created by miners(people running the network) hence the variation in time occurence when it happens the reward the miners receive for creating a block is halved in order to maintain the deflation model of bitcoins ecosystem causing mining operation costs of creating bitcoin to go up which is supposed to also push the market value up ( nobody unless forced by negative circumstances e.g. financial need will want to sell at a price lower than production cost)
Also means many outdated minning farms either will go bankrupt or need to invest in upgrading their rigs which often creates sell pressure from the miners which could explain the initial dips in price which happened just around previous halving events before the price went up

I did wonder why all comments were about smthng completely different :)
Not completely given up but have had some bad experiences here there were way too many dishonest hipocrites here So more observing from a distance to see how the place changes now it's kind off under new management.

It is an initiative that I believe will help even more to stimulate the work of interaction between users and the project hope community.
I would like in the not too distant future perhaps to contemplate the possibility of expanding the themes to topics related to engineering and mathematics and even why not to education. Perhaps with these new incorporations the amount of publications within the community will be extended a little more, the interaction will be extended a little more, therefore this activity of "Learn and Win" will take a greater development with the topics of engineering and mathematics, of course it is important to clarify that it is only an idea and that it would be important to analyze all the elements involved.

As a cryptocurrency developer myself, I have been answering to a lot of questions about less explored aspects of inner workings of blockchains.
A lot of people still believe that all cryptocurrencies behave the same because there is so many forks with almost no user visible changes. Most of the changes are apparent only to developers.

Two years ago I didn't know anything else about cryptocurrencies except the names Bitcoin and Ethereum... As the financial system started collapsing in my home country, I started looking for alternatives for bank accounts. Monthly fees for bank accounts are so high here that most of the time my bank accounts have zero balance. Only exception is the pay day when the balance peaks but drops fast as I pay most of the bills and buy food.
Before I started investing in stocks and crypto, I had to borrow money from my mother to pay for food because I couldn't buy all of the food just once a month... About last week before pay day, I kept all the money as cash, but nowadays cash isn't used here in grocery shops anymore, so it's not an option anymore. Basically only long distance bus tickets can be paid in cash, but they have limited change supply.

I particularly like to vote on comments. It is a way to stimulate true healing and to promote reading in the community. It seems that we are all in a race against time, which prevents us from stopping to read calmly and "add value" to the content we are analyzing.
This was a constant practice when I entered the blockchain and I rarely see it in action. I think I will continue to vote on those comments in my posts and in the posts of others until I understand how this practice can be detrimental.

it will be a good idea to start a fresh topic, a new approach, a more collaborative and engaging way to promote and illicit quality content among community members. though from the post, the exact mechanism on how to do this is not yet clear. let me guess, it will be a comment based post. A question is posted, with a small detail ,then the community will answer in a more scholastic approach, meaning well referenced, with good structural ideas...

Well it's quite innovative if you ask me, however I'll like to ask, will @hardaeborla be the sole writer of all the publications which users are going to be interacting and answering questions from?
Why not ask the pH team to formulate a well written based on topic And ask users to relay their knowledge in the comment section? For that reward?

Coinbase earn was a educational progr ran by coinbase where u watched a few 2-3 min presentations about various cryptocurrencies answered a a few questions in form of a multiple choice test and got rewarded with $10 to $50 worth of that currency
Quite handy especially as the q's were very basic so didn't even have to waste time on watching the presentations
Your idea reminded me of that only here your meant to do the research yourself and give the answer in kind of essay form
