The Real Expenses of Being a Lazy Bitcoin Investor, the Secrets of Rhodium, and Japan Stocks for Foreigners

in hive-175254 •  4 years ago  (edited)

There are a lot of exchange-traded products to track bitcoin and other main cryptos, but the management fees are unusually high at the moment. The rhodium price went to spectacular highs in the last years, can the trend last? The Japanese stock market has a bad reputation, but add the appreciation of the yen.

The Bitcoin price took a new orbit on the way to the moon, but many people and institutions stay unengaged. Securitized cryptos like ETFs, ETNs, and other ETPs may help in this process, but the price is high. By my research, management fees reach 2-3 percent p. a.

We live in exciting times in the markets, every week or every day a new asset reaches all-time highs or many-year tops. One day, cryptos are skyrocketing, the other, commodities surging, and many stock indices reached new records. (Central bank money printing, rescue programs of governments, and inflation fears may cause bubbles.) The rhodium maintains an uptrend for years, the price is eight times higher than two years ago.

The Japanese stock market is mentioned often as an example of stagnation and decade-long losses. But the Nikkei 225 index reached 30-year highs at 30,000 points. And if you bought Japanese stocks for USD, the historic appreciation of the yen compensated losses or completed returns. This market was better than you think.

This is my post recommendation for you with a few new publications on my financial web page, Ageless Finance. Shorter and longer, comprehensive articles about investing themes. With many charts and lists. If you are interested in more details, click on the images.

The Real Expenses of Being a Lazy Bitcoin Investor

The cryptocurrency market is booming again. This time, institutional demand is pushing prices higher. But some investors still have to overcome hurdles to invest. Small investors, because trading and secure storage of cryptocurrencies require expertise, is complicated. On the institutional side, investment rules do not allow investors to buy assets in an unregulated market.

  • The crypto-bull is raging, but many investors still stay away.
  • Comfortable exchange-traded cryptocurrency products may be the solution for many new players.
  • But these products are expensive compared with traditional ETFs.
  • Two Factors are undermining the “inflation” hedge and “digital gold” narrative.

Rhodium Price Doubled, Quadrupled, and Octupled

Rhodium price jumped around 100 percent in a year and was one of the best-performing commodities in this period. What could be the reason for this? Can the trend persist for longer? (Update: The rhodium price suffered a strong correction last week, if you seek buying opportunity, this may be one.)

  • The rhodium price jumped 95 percent in one year and eightfold in two years.
  • The metal is exceptionally scarce and in heavy demand in the car industry.
  • The electric car boom may reduce demand, but not tomorrow.
  • But beware, it may crash also as fast as it ascended before.

The Japanese Stock Market Just Hit An All-Time High In USD-Terms

I published a post about Japanese stocks on another popular page and very few people have read it. Also a good contrarian-investing sign? The Japanese stock market seems a nightmare for many investors because it was moving in a downtrend for decades. It is sort of an abandoned market, but is it cheap?

  • Is the Japanese stock market the nightmare of long-term investors?
  • No. Investors who avoided the bubble-period reached a decent 3.9 real return p. a.
  • Because of the currency appreciation, the return was higher in dollar terms.
  • Japanese stocks in USD hit even new all-time high already.
  • But the valuations are mixed.
