Since I wanted to be a doctor, I always thought about having my own practice, my own business, my own space. It is something I miss very much and I hope to be able to do it in the long term. I know that many people want to be independent and have their own financial freedom, I am one of them.
I am a General Practitioner, I think that some already know this and my vision for the future with my career is to be able to offer the greatest possible help, I think that health in general in Latin America is not the best offered and I want to make the exception to the rule.
I have never had a business but if I work in some and let's say I know what that implies, I know that it is not easy, especially at the beginning, I do not intend to become a millionaire with this because it is not what I have planned, since the public I want to direct has nothing to do with the high class or high society, on the contrary, the idea of my project would be to provide excellent medical care well below the standard price, why? because I believe that there are many, too many people who do not receive good care because they do not have the necessary money.
I know perfectly well that at the beginning I will not be able to cover all my expectations, since I would like to cover many things, but at least I would be part of that help to reduce the collapse of some hospitals and clinics.
Unfortunately, I do not think that this is a project that I will be able to implement in my country, but wherever I am, I intend to help. Particularly the health sector in Colombia is not the best, said by the Colombians themselves, patients are not even touched most of the time by the doctor, which seems to me totally out of place, it's like going to get an evaluation of a wound and simply not be checked, and also indicate a treatment.
There are many stories that I have encountered on this subject, and I must say and it is not for being Venezuelan but the doctors in my country (real university graduates I want to note) are excellent, said by the same Colombians also. They teach us to have a relationship with the patient, to treat him/her and to put ourselves in his/her place, they do not teach us to deal with robots but with human beings.
For that reason, despite the adversities, we go ahead, despite not having the necessary equipment, working with our hands, but we try to solve the problem for the patient, we do not send him home with a simple acetaminophen, for example, unless that is all he needs. And we understand that, we try to put ourselves in their shoes, they have enough on their plate.
I'm continuing with my project...
First of all I must look very well at which area I can establish myself, which place I have visited or know of may need some health center even if it is small, which population would benefit and what type of population in addition, since here in Colombia Bogota the social strata or hierarchies are usually very marked, obviously my vision would be towards the lower strata, I, II and possibly III. I think this is a key point when deciding to establish this project.
Second point, take care of all the paperwork, obviously everything has to be in order, particularly here they are very strict about those things, and at the slightest detail they want to shut you down or fine you. I'm not saying it's wrong, as long as it's all for the betterment of the business or the health center.
Thirdly, I want to settle down in a place that is still peaceful, that people forget their pain for a moment, that they find peace within so much madness. Starting with a good reception, but the idea is that the patient is welcomed and taken into account.
A nice waiting room where they can easily integrate would be ideal, where you can establish a conversation at least and have a good cup of coffee (can not miss) hehe...
Fourth point, and I believe that it is very important for the population, the price of consultations, with this I return and I repeat I do not intend to get rich, for that reason the consultations would be very economical, in this country very few people can access a private consultation, for example, and have to wait long hours to be treated in a hospital. The idea is that it should be accessible to the whole community.
Everything that has to do with GENERAL MEDICINE would be attended to, starting with the healthy child, the elderly (I think this is a somewhat unassisted population), routine check-ups, general check-ups, physical and semiological examinations, controls of diabetic and hypertensive patients, as a general practitioner should be able to do this and refer them to a specialist when necessary. Cures could be made for certain wounds, the intention being to attend to the general and not to mess with the ED.
As we are talking about general medicine, emergencies should be treated in health centres that are specialised in that area and have what is necessary.
At the beginning, as we all know, maybe we should improve some or many things, but the important thing is to start! I know that my project would be something with a lot of weight in society, it would have a great impact and maybe it would encourage many people to collaborate in that objective, with the help of more people we would surely be able to provide better care, with more instruments and specialties.
Tell me, what do you think of the project, would you add to it?
Would you participate in a project like this? Would you support it?

Hmmm @franyeligonzalez ...people like you are really very scarce in this modern world because most people aren't even bothered about saving people's lives and impacting the world positively, they are more concerned about making more money and millions in their pocket. I love the fact that you plan to make medication and treatment less expensive and affordable for sick patients and if every doctors in the world encourages this simple act, there won't be high death rate in nations just like we are having today.
Most people can't afford the high bills desired by doctors and the doctors aren't really eager to save people's lives unless there is money involved. I hope you'll be able to achieve anything goals and I wish you success in your health project
Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great day ahead

I know that many cannot afford a private clinic, much less a specialist, and where I live now in Bogota, Colombia, consultations are very expensive and the health system is depressing!

It is incredibly inspiring to read the words of somebody who had a dream, followed through, and achieved their dream. To undertake the learning and make the sacrifices necessary to become a GP is no small thing - Congratulations of being the sort of person who does what they say they will!
Your beliefs in regard to helping those who need it most but can afford it least makes you a magnificent example of the caring profession, we both know that all who enter into a career of care simply do not care enough.
As you say a lifetime of untold riches will not enter your life in terms of money but you speak like somebody who understands the real riches of life - love, care, compassion and that feeling of knowing in your heart and soul that YOU made a difference in the lives of those who needed it most.
Now that is an incredibly inspiring goal, for anyone entering a caring profession that is a crucial aim and it demonstrates somebody who feels much love for their fellow travellers through life.
YES, yes, yes! If people would just realise that waiting for that perfect day when everything is lined up and absolutely 100% mistake-free is NOT the way to go. Just begin in the best way you can and become slightly better continuously.
Your project is overall amazing. Kudos to you my friend for having the heart and soul that looks outward and not just inward. Take great care of you and yours, your success is already written in the stars 🙂

Hello @stevenwood thank you very much for your words, they make my day, I really hope that everything I have in mind at some point I can make it come true, people need more people who want to help and not people who are just looking for a financial benefit! That is my intention, to contribute a grain of sand to continue in the line of change.
