It has recently been 14 years since the publication of the Bitcoin white paper, an unprecedented event that changed the economy as we knew it so far. Since then, a lot of data has been processed and many things have been written about this digital asset.
The financial revolution that Bitcoin represents is a current that every day gains more followers although its detractors continue to decree its death periodically, more and more elements and projects emerge that strengthen not only Bitcoin but also cryptocurrencies in general, including all its economic derivatives.
There are many points about Bitcoin from which we can engage in a conversation, however, today I want to address the deflationary nature of Bitcoin and its limited supply. So what to expect after the last Bitcoin is minted.
Bitcoin...
As it is well known Bitcoin has a limited supply of 21 million, of which more than 19 million have already been minted, almost the totality of Bitcoin has already been created so the supply of coins will come to an end, if we take into account data such as Halving that occurs every 4 years it is estimated that the totality of Bitcoin will end to be issued in 2140 according to data taken from the internet.
Now... Have you ever wondered what will happen after the last Bitcoin has been mined? How will the distribution be? and how will the circulation be after this, taking into account that there will be no more Bitcoin mining, no more Halvings among other things.
It is a true fact that there is an amount of Bitcoin that was lost forever for various reasons, logically this does not represent much before the amount that is in circulation, but .... Bitcoin is limited, when it finishes "printing" the totality of its supply will be in circulation, it will be distributed in its great majority in the hands of some powerful people and it will become scarcer.
Will it become scarcer and will its value increase exponentially?
These are questions that will only be answered when the supply comes to an end, and according to the timeline some of us will not be here to see it.
My point is: What do you think will happen to Bitcoin once the last Bitcoin has been mined?
Let me know what you think!
