Hello friends!
I think the most awaited news in the world right now is the coronavirus vaccine, we all look forward to that sublime moment when the authorities announce that an effective vaccine against COVID-19 has finally been developed.
Although it is difficult to predict what that moment will be like, it will surely be a moment charged with much emotion and mixed feelings, with joy for those who have sick relatives and those infected themselves and perhaps a feeling of helplessness in those who lost loved ones without being able to do nothing.
Pharmacological tests.
Several countries have announced testing of vaccines and drugs to combat the coronavirus, some are in the process of development while others are already testing their medications; Japan recently announced that testing of a human virus vaccine will begin on June 30.
The tests will initially be provided to some 30 people working in the country's health sector, to later reach a larger number of people.
Despite all these announcements and the investment of millions of dollars in the fight against Covid-19, the situation remains the same, we are still waiting for a vaccine that can stop the virus, to go from a defensive stage to the offensive in the fight against the pandemic.
However, the WHO held in a press release a trial conducted by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, in which it is positively advertised as treatment with dexamethasone, can reduce the risk of mortality by one third, of patients who they need assisted breathing.
“This is the first treatment to be shown to reduce mortality in patients with COVID-19 requiring oxygen or ventilator support,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. "This is great news and I congratulate the Government of the UK, the University of Oxford, and the many hospitals and patients in the UK who have contributed to this lifesaving scientific breakthrough."
Dexamethasone is a steroid that has been used since the 1960s to reduce inflammation in a range of conditions, including inflammatory disorders and certain cancers. It has been listed on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines since 1977 in multiple formulations, and is currently off-patent and affordably available in most countries.
Conclusions.
Although it is not something definitive, I think we should also celebrate the fact that with this treatment the death rate from the pandemic can be reduced, while we continue waiting for the great news that can fill millions of people around the world with hope.
While developing a virus treatment, we must follow the recommendations of the health authorities.
Here the report of the University of Oxford.

Hello friend @fucho80 interesting your publication, it is true that it has been tried in several opportunities to establish a vaccine, but wow, that is not so easy that we say, all that takes a process and we are not going to be able to have it overnight as many think, but the important thing is that it is being worked on.

That is encouraging in a way, we know that the different governments, institutions and laboratories have been working to resolve this. Pray that it will happen soon.
Thanks for being here!

Hello friend @fucho80
I have mixed feelings about this. There is some evidence that goes hand in hand with the experience of many doctors who have not followed the protocols imposed by the WHO and have done better than those who have.
Dexamethasone is indeed a fast-acting anti-inflammatory. This is important, because what makes this disease truly fatal is the complication generated by bronchial inflammation that affects the alveoli and gas exchange, that is, it does not allow oxygen to enter the body, and people die.
Why, knowing this, is the use of drugs such as ibuprofen, which is an excellent anti-inflammatory for the airways, not within WHO protocol? But obviously before people get sick.
If the main source of infection is through coughing, why is there no cough suppressant in the WHO protocol? For example, just like these things I mention to you, there are many things that make me think that money is really behind all this. Once you get a vaccine it is the WHO that determines which one works... and 'how many millions will that approval cost? who will offer more?

Woo friend, to be honest I had not seen it from that point of view, the treatment that is being given to it is really worrying, we know from the beginning that there are millions at stake, but that it plays with people's lives is something really cruel.
Brother we must keep waiting, praying that everything will be resolved soon ... I have been reading about other surprising discoveries that can help in this crisis.
Thanks for comment!

Yes, I understand, that's my area of study and I can see other things, that's why I mention it.
Anyway, I look forward to your next publications. Thank you for sharing your findings, that's what it's all about, learning a little bit about everything.

I guess that's good news, let's hope that vaccine does not produce side effects, but everything points to whether it will have them. Steroid use doesn't seem very good to me.

Hopefully this is resolved, that they find a treatment without any side effects.
