Will US ban TikTok?

TikTok is Chinese social media app which has been trending for a while now. TikTok is used in virtually all countries except for India. The company has been enjoying good PR as well as tangible profit until it got in the middle of a geo-political fight between the two economic giant and world power China and the United States.

Trump has been on the heat against China even before the coronavirus pandemic and this made the country had a lot of political dispute and economic wars in the last few years of Trumps administration. China has been accused several things from using their products to steal citizens data, to producing counterfeit products, determining people’s choices, and putting them in partial slavery due to communist ruling.

Byte Dance is in a big mess currently as the company is being faced with a ban threat by the United States or forced to sell off its US operations segment of the country. This ban is built based on security bridge, as the company is being accused of sharing data of US with the communist of China. The company knows how much it gets as revenue from the United States and the company is willing to bargain with the United State government but the government is only interested in the company selling off its US part of the company to a US company.

I feel this is more than security. For me, this is more of a geo-political war than a ban based on security. The company has said it severally that they do not share any information with the Chinese communist government. Microsoft has been discussing buying the short video sharing app in four countries, United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Although it does not look prospective that the two companies will agree.

Microsoft has a lot to gain from this TikTok merger and although it has to compete with other TikTok market, it will be very difficult for Microsoft to hit other TikTok market but on a contrary, the US market is a large market.

I have also heard about it. Although tiktok is already banned in India. I have heard that tiktok exchange user data which is why some countries are now planning on banning tik tok application.
No wonder it got trending in the recent time especially because of lockdown during pandemic.
Great post full of information. Thank you!

Thank you for reading @rishabh99946

I believe we are toward a global war between the 2 countries.

The truth is that despite being a fun application it doesn't leave any teaching or learning behind, so I think it wouldn't affect the world at all if tik tok disappeared or was banned.

But some fun lovers will greatly disagree with you thanks a lot for reading.

Tik Tok has really gained lot of love and users from most people around the world and this is why it's actually one of the most utilized social media app being used. It may be quite unfair and difficult to ban such platform.. There's also tendency of investor or billionaires buying the app.

Thanks for sharing this great post with love from @hardaeborla and I hope you have a great day ahead 💓💕💓💕❤️💕❤️💓

Thanks for your opinion @hardaeborla.

I believe us banning tiktok will surely affect Microsoft hitting on the market of tiktok. But soon enough with the way things are going because some other countries are already getting the app banned, not that far to see us getting tiktok banned

Thanks for reading @mandate.

Microsoft is one of the owners of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, so if even some Tiktok users move to Instagram, Microsoft gets more profit... On the other hand, if most of Tiktok users move to YouTube, it's bad for Microsoft, as YouTube is owned by Google/Alphabet.

I think ultimate plan of Microsoft is to merge Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Tiktok.

Politics will always have a way of shaping economy, technology adoption and development of a nation. I'll not be surprised if Tik-Tok gets banned in the USA

I will not be surprised also thanks for reading@uyobing.

Some Tiktok content creators have already moved to Instagram and YouTube, so USA banning Tiktok will not have a big impact on people who just watch videos there...

For video creators, it will require more effort as Instagram doesn't have as good filters as Tiktok.

Seems like a temporary thing. Something is likely to come out of all this. Probably something already planned.
