Reasons to comment on Steemit

in hive-175254 •  4 years ago  (edited)

I want to take advantage of what is expressed in this post by @crypto.piotr, to share with you my thoughts about comments. Almost a year ago, in Hive I published a post on the subject and from that post emerged a project that I lead called @ elcomentator. I think it is pertinent to bring it up to complement what @crypto.piotr said about the commitment we should have now that TheRising has withdrawn its support for PH.

Engagement will be rewarded and support will be given to those authors who not only publish, but also comment and support other authors. But beyond an interest in being voted for PH, I want to reflect with you on the importance and additional reasons we have to comment on Steemit, Hive or any other blockchain-based social network.

I am one of those who believe that the greatest value we can bring to this chain lies not only in content curation (voting for articles) but in curation by commenting. That, can educate and add a lot of value to the author's contribution.

Here are five (5) reasons to comment on Steemit:

🗨️ Promotion. want them to know you exist? Comment. Doing so is one of the best ways to promote yourself as a blogger and as a user on any social network (in life, in general, really). If you don't comment, you don't exist. And I put this reason first because I know we all want votes and we want to know if commenting on posts will make them come. Well, yes (small interested party), votes do come from commenting. If a Steemit blogger sees your comment they may go vote for you or they may share your post on their blog or manually with other users and you don't know if among those users is a cute little whale or some curator. Moreover, you don't know if that same blogger you comment is a curator.
But here comes a very important detail to take into account. It is one thing to flatter and another to praise. If you are going to comment that your comment is sincere, honest, genuine; do it to a user with 100K SP or to a newcomer who barely knows how to vote for you.

🗨️ Win Steem or SBD. There are users with a lot of SP who vote the comments they leave on their posts. Here it is understood that we are going to vote us the comment, but I still recommend you that it is something of value and based on sincerity. Don't do it just for interest.

Human Relations. Dale Carnegie, for me the best author on public speaking, human relations and sales, in his book "How to Win Friends and Influence People " expresses that one of the greatest needs of human beings is to feel important, loved and praised. By leaving a comment to someone you are feeding their spirit and that natural desire to feel valuable. Always remember how you feel when your work, effort or talent is recognized. Then apply the same with others. Dale Carnegie recommends "being warm in approval and lavish in praise" and commenting on posts is an excellent opportunity to put this maxim into practice.

🗨️ Education. At this point I emphasize responding to comments. I have always said it, when someone comments on your post and you don't answer him it is as if you leave him with the word in his mouth, that is to say, it is very bad manners. I tell you that for my part I have stopped visiting blogs that do not respond to my comments, no matter how good that blogger writes, I don't visit him anymore.
When I talk about answering comments I don't mean this: "hi, thanks for visiting. I'm glad you liked my post ", that's the equivalent of saying nothing. And even less to someone who took 5 or 10 minutes of his valuable time to read you and also leave you a valuable comment. Respond appropriately. You will gain respect as an author and as a human being.

Gain followers. I think this goes without saying. But it is obvious and evident that if you behave as a person and not as a mere capitalist interested in $ for publishing, you will gain followers, of all kinds, needless to say. I've been followed by several people these past few days, some new and some very powerful. I appreciate both of them, but I am more than clear that those powerful ones could leave me good dividends. As you see, not only do you gain respect, appreciation and esteem from others, money can also come as a reward. Because let's be honest, we are on Steemit because we have the chance to be rewarded, (otherwise we would still be on Facebook or Instagram), but also because here on Steemit there is the opportunity to meet valuable people who post valuable content.

How do you do with comments, do you comment a little, a lot, not at all, do you have any experience with them? I'd love to read you and get your thoughts on it.

Hello @garybilbao, The points you are citing about commenting on Steemit are very important and I see with concern that many new people are entering without knowing how necessary it is to interact with other users through comments.

I would add that Steemit has the foundation of a social network where the interaction between users is of vital relevance and even the fundamental essence of this platform.

Great post friend.

Absolutely. If we don't interact, we die. It's a social network, the social aspect is vital. It is up to us to set an example and help newcomers understand this point.

Thanks for your visit and comment.

Hi @garybilbao

We all have our own reasons to be engaging in comment section on Steemit. And often those reasons are quite similar.

From my perspective (person who founded PH and is trying to grow it): building community based on non-engaging people is pretty much not possible. And for that particular reason, I focus my support towards people who invest their own time and engage with others.

Dale Carnegie, for me the best author on public speaking, human relations and sales, in his book "How to Win Friends and Influence People "

That was indeed an amazing book. One I also recommend reading.

I could only find 3 reasons in your post: Promotion, Win Steem or SBD, Education ... what about other 2?

Hope you're having a great weekend,
Cheers, Piotr

When I made the Spanish edition, I left out two of the subtitles. (I have already corrected it). 👍

Thank you for your comment and yes, everyone has their own reasons for commenting, but whatever those reasons are, the benefits of commenting will always be positive.

Thanks for leaving your mark on the post.
