For some time and recently as a result of the global pandemic, addiction to video games has intensified in both children, adolescents and adults of all ages, managing to become one of the problems that occupies most of the attention of parents today in day.

However, it is important to mention that video games are not the problem in itself, according to what experts say, the problem stems from discriminated use and excessive time spent playing them.
According to studies, it has been possible to confirm that this disorder or mental illness called "Gaming disorder" is considered a mental and behavioral disorder, characterized by excessive interest in gambling, giving it greater interest over other daily and everyday activities, inclusive hindering face-to-face interpersonal relationships, limiting mostly to contact with those with whom they share games.
According to the World Health Organization, among the most outstanding characteristics of this disorder the following:
1.-Deterioration of control when playing.

2.-Priority of the game over other interests.
3.-Intensification of the game despite the negative consequences.

Likewise, this problem is one of the most frequent nowadays among children and adolescents, whose consequences are evident both in the family, social and academic spheres, because due to the addiction to games they give priority to playing and neglect interpersonal relationships and do not fulfill their responsibilities in the academic field.

However, specialists affirm that to give a diagnosis of the disorder, the aforementioned characteristics of this behavior must be identified and maintained for at least 12 continuous months.
However, you may wonder how to handle this problem if we observe some of these characteristics in our children or a close family member?
It is important first of all, to be very attentive to the time they spend playing, in the case of our children especially if they are in adolescence, it is important to observe the reaction they have when the team is eliminated to play or is reduced or controlled time goes to the game; If your reaction is violent and may even threaten harm, this is a warning that you must act immediately to treat the disorder.

Gaming is like drug addiction we need to fix a small time for the gaming so that we cannot become addictive.

We ahvw seen people die playing games in China many have spoil their hands because of long playing.

Hi @janettyanez
Games appeal to everyone, or at least most people. Indeed, the pandemic and the confinement it caused meant that there was a very pronounced tendency to seek out activities on the internet, including games.
The point is that now, beyond the fun of the game, there is also a way to make money from them, which makes them even more appealing.
But it is necessary to have a control, logically, not to fall into disease.

Hi @josevas217
Unquestionably, but you have to be careful when this one becomes an addiction, it is very dangerous.
Have a great day!

Hello dear @janetyanez, no doubt video games can be very addictive, today they are so full of realism and interesting graphics that easily goes a considerable time without realizing it, but certainly you have to control the time spent playing because it can lead to neglect of responsibilities or a disorder as you explained, as for children must limit their time of use.

Hi @emiliomoron
This is a friend, thanks for your comment.
My best wishes and regards.

Greetings @janetyanez
There is no doubt that the pandemic not only brought deaths, but also made others sick in an indirect way, since being more time at home without being able to do much, people (children, youth and adults) spent time playing and this brought as a consequence what you mention, psychological illness, personality change and even death by malnutrition. It is very worrying the situation in every home should not let more time to act, with drastic or consensual decisions.

Hi @dgalan
An obvious reality, thank you for your visit and comment.
Have a great day!

Hello dear friend @janetyanez, the theme of video games is something that actiualmente parents should be attentive to our children, it creates a kind of addiction that generates a generalized carelessness with all the activities they should perform, As you say in the article the problem is not video games but excessive use.

So long, have a great weekend.

Hi @amestyj
That's right friend, information about this disorder should be disclosed so that everyone is informed of the characteristics and can prevent it.
Have a great a day!

Hi @janettyanez it is very important to recognize when video games go from entertainment or distraction to a disorder that can alert us as to the performance of people suffering from this problem which it is worth noting has increased. Today not only children and young people are totally isolated and living in a virtual reality but many adults have found in these games a way of life away from reality. Thank you for sharing.

I agree with you friend @emimoron
On the other hand, it is known that addicts do not recognize it but seek justification to what they do, another of the signals that must be taken into account to detect this disorder.
Thanks for your comment .
Have a great day!
