Colonialism can be executed in different ways

in hive-175254 •  5 years ago

The world has lived in colonialism for centuries, great powers today have remained in the history of many other countries, managing to make - by force - a miscegenation in many places, enslaving in others, or both. There is enough evidence of this: the Caribbean, South America, are living examples.

Yes, I know that in the Project Hope community it is not to talk about history, and that is not precisely what I come here to do, but the introduction I have made is because I recently read something that caught my attention, and that is: Digital Colonialism.

It's probable that someone has read it before but for me it was totally new...

And it made me think about many things and I said to myself: How is it possible to be free but to be a slave? We are more and more dependent on technology, and it is worth noting that everything is digitalized. In general, technology has made our lives easier, I can't say no, but everything has its price.

Recently I was reading about the impact that the internet of things will have, which implies that facility to join our most basic devices and that will be able to process information as if something is running out of the fridge, make the request to the supermarket and be taken home, or that will detect the air conditioning when our car is on the way home and know that it must be turned on so that when we arrive the temperature is in an optimal point. This is great, yes, but it's probably hard for us to see, but digital is taking over our lives in such a way that everything we do will undoubtedly be totally under this feature, we are being totally colonized by technology, which is global.

You have to see us face to face with technology to understand it...

I'm not sure if this is entirely good or entirely bad, what I do know is that it is happening and this reality is becoming more and more noticeable. So there's that

Colonization, as we could learn it from history books, has remained in that, history, but it does not mean that it does not continue to happen, it is the same but it has changed, it is still dressed in total and absolute benefit, but you always have to see the two sides of the coin.

I'll insist: I'm not against technology, I can't be, if it weren't for it we wouldn't have steemit or any blockchain, and this is great, but, everything has its nuances.

What do you think about it?

I'd like to know your opinion, leave it in the comments and I'll be happy to read it and comment.

We are beings that are easily addicted to a lot of things and technology is one of them. We become engrossed with habits and get overwhelmed with technology that we become slaves to this things. Technology has become the slave master while humans are the slave but this time around we buy and own our slave masters

"but this time around we Buy and own our slave masters"

Hi @ajewa, I liked that phrase, for reflection, and a lot. Buying something that in a certain way enslaves us, but is usually necessary... is paradoxical.

Muchas gracia spor el apoyo amigos.

Hi @josevas217

Certainly technology has provided human beings with comfort, however those of us who enjoy it and in most cases manage it moderately, even go so far as to "enslave" or particularly become addicted to it.

Nevertheless, in relation to that :

"we are being totally colonized by technology, which is global."
If we allow it to go beyond the limits where our privacy is violated and our rights are violated, the answer to your question is yes.

But seeing in the immediate future, an ordinary citizen with basic knowledge on the subject, how can he avoid it without being harmed?

I liked reading you , greetings @janettyanez

That's an excellent reflection @janettyanez

The security of our data, of our life, privacy, is something that the line tends to be somewhat blurred these days.

Podemos hacer que la tecnología nos ayude a tener calidad de vida pero no que sustituya todo en nuestra vida. Excelente reflexión que nos pone a pensar, gracias por compartirlo @josevas217. Mi apoyo en el #toptres de hoy.

Thanks @marybellrg for your comment.
Although we currently owe a lot to technology, otherwise, we would be totally blind in these difficult times...

It is true that many people's lives today are based on technology, from the moment they wake up on their mobile phones to the moment they go to bed writing on one of these platforms.

The pandemic brought us a little closer to that life full of gadgets, I know that there are many other things we could do, like exercise, do yoga, meditate, share with our family, but apart from the personal and spiritual benefit it doesn't generate anything else, we can't just live from that, it's sad to say but that's how it is. Yes, the family is the most important thing, but we have to generate income to be able to pay our needs.

I don't agree that our life is based on technology either, but right now many people are trying to survive that way.

If @franyeligonzalez
Reality is something else, many times we even have to give in to technology, otherwise the day will not be enough for us at all.

Achieving balance is often difficult.

The aim of technology was to make life activities easier to achieve and accomplished faster but as time goes on we become part of it that they become part of what controls our life activities. This is technological slavery.

Thank you for commenting @eni-ola
Yes, slavery has only changed in form he he
But this is reality, we must be aware and make the most of it.

Big brother always watches over us, and although he brings a lot benefits, I think it's a political issue that I don't we will be able to get rid We have to be optimistic seeing the good side of the technology and putting aside what does not make us progress. Great reflection.

There are so many things that are out of our hands, at least what is within our reach, we must maintain. And we can have control of many things, especially what we respect ourselves.
