Today I want to share some ideas regarding a topic that seemed very particular to me. I know that with the whole problem of global warming, which is undoubtedly real, many great defenders have emerged from all the movements that promote green energy, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, in short, everything that helps to minimize the negative effects of these on the earth.
But recently I was reading something about the great degree of pollution produced by technology, the title caught my attention, obviously, since I am a user of what has to do with technology in the strict sense of the word, I live from it and in it, so that's why I decided to read the article. What I must emphasize was the result of an investigation carried out by a renowned European group called "Los Verde/The Green".
"The Greens/European Free Alliance are the fifth largest group of MEPs in the European Parliament.Source"

This group claims that technology generates 40% of the gases that contribute to global warming. This figure particularly seemed alarming to me, since it is almost half, and if this is true, the reality is that the use of technology is clearly increasing, and I do not think that this is going to stop, but rather, the use will be more and more widespread, which means that it could soon have a greater percentage of responsibility in this big problem called climate change.
I have read, and even seen videos, of people who deny all this global problem that we are experiencing and whose main cause is related to changes in temperatures, we see more and more floods, in addition to more extreme temperatures. I think this is self-evident.
Now, this big load of pollution from technology I must say got me thinking about it. The study says that pollution and damage to the planet is not only with use, but that it begins before its manufacture, with the extraction of the necessary materials, and even after its time of use ends, it continues to pollute.

In view of this reality, the world continues in an involutionary process as far as balance is concerned, where the damage is evident and is getting worse, but it does not seem that the deterioration is going to stop. Is anyone willing to abandon the use of telephones, computers, and other instruments that have simplified so many processes for us?... I don't think so, particularly not, for example.
But I believe that we could reach a point of no return, where the world at the climate level would express itself in such a radical way that no technology would serve to be able to be in peace... although thinking about it, it seems that the nuclear threat that we have today in day is worse than anything else... let's wait and see what will happen.

Well, I feel that research might be suitable as they are not basing the outcome on just the usage of the technology. They are looking at it from the requirement process and production of this technology gadgets or tools

I think the world is able to reduce pollution without sacrificing technological progress if there is a sincere will to gradually turn to "green energy". During the last few decades, most countries didn't seem interested in quitting traditional fuels, but it seems as if there is an ongoing shift on that front...
Thanks for sharing

Technology is certainly an important source of pollution, but as you rightly point out not only in the use and energy it consumes but also in the materials used for the different components, sometimes I think about where all the TVs, cell phone batteries and other equipment that are said not to be thrown away in the trash have gone and yet unconsciously we throw them away. If I remember correctly, the mercury contained in some of the electronic devices and their parts is a very potent poison and pollutant of lakes, rivers and seas. It is something to think about..
