Greetings friends of Project Hope, best wishes to everyone this week. I would like to talk today about something very interesting in relation to a piece of news that was expected today, and that is the IPC or Inflation in the United States.
This is particularly important considering that the US dollar is the main fiat currency in the world, and that what happens on an economic level in the US has repercussions all over the world for that very reason, the power of the dollar over other currencies.
High inflation is what determines whether central banks raise interest rates or not, and this is something that affects everything in the economy very strongly.
Today's inflation data would be reported at 8.30am, and this would determine many things. For example, considering that tomorrow there will be the interest rate data report, and this data today is a key determinant. Because talking about inflation implies that we are assessing whether the increase in the prices of products that consumers pay for are not increasing.
The US Federal Reserve (FED) is working to lower inflation and bring it to 2%, the detail in this opportunity is that the data is not reporting a considerable decrease in spite of the efforts. Because inflation remains above 3%. The last reported figure was 3.2%, and the one reported today was 3.1. And the reality is that it has been in that zone for several months, it has not gone down, and this may make the FED measures more intense.
Particularly I know that these issues are not liked by most people, and it is usually thought that what happens in those places will not affect us in the country where we are, whether it is a Latin American, African or Asian country, however, it is a matter of reading a little to realize that everything that happens there, in those countries, and more in the U.S., will end up affecting our countries.
I think there is currently a lot of information that can allow us to understand things today, and it is always good to be able to learn, to know that the more information we handle facilitates the process of making better decisions, to take advantage of more opportunities, as well as to avoid risks.
