Hello friends of project Hope, I hope you are all very well. Today I want to talk about something very particular about the price of the US Dollar in Colombia. Same that for some months was around 5000 Colombian pesos (COP), just now has reached a very low price, which "in theory " should be good for those who live in this country, but the reality is different.
Although there are many things that are consumed here that are imported, and logically, at least until now, the main currency of exchange is still the USD, nothing goes down in price even when the USD is doing it, rather, on the contrary, everything keeps going up in price, which is absurd, but it is the reality.
But beyond this reality, I have been trying to understand why this economic phenomenon is happening, where I see that the dollar continues to fall in price against the COP. And what I see is that this "prophecy " that was so much talked about, that says that the US dollar will end up losing its hegemony has already started.
The fact that international trade has started to use other exchange currencies to buy oil, for example, is causing the dollar to depreciate more and more, and I think that is largely what is happening here.
Of course, there are also other aspects to consider, such as the printing of money in the US, that a few weeks ago the debt ceiling was raised, and this, like it or not, makes the dollar lose even more value.
The detail in all this is that despite this is happening, Latin American countries like Colombia or Venezuela, inflation is still something in constant increase, which is not good at all, because what it does is to create an even greater gap between those who have more and those who do not, and where the poor population continues to increase as well.
I wanted to share some of these things that are happening here in Colombia, and that at least for me has not a very clear explanation, but I keep reading, researching, with the intention of understanding what is happening and of course, with the hope of finding other options that allow me to keep my economy afloat.
