Internet speed, an indicator of innovation and economic health
After reading a story that struck me, I decided to write about it.
I have always known about the bad connection to the Internet in Venezuela.
But very recently I heard on the radio that my country was currently in a very bad position, I mean it has the worst connection in the world, but I did not stay alone with that news, so I had to investigate how bad we are in our country.
My surprise was not so discouraging because day by day I suffer the terrible connection, but I never imagined that we would be in the penultimate place.
The first thing I did was investigate to locate the source of that information, searching online I found the company that generated that ranking the Internet consulting company is speedtest
Something that I liked about the research is being able to see all the countries that appear in this report and see their connection capacity one by one.
The quality of your Internet connection depends largely on where you are on the planet if you are on the Asian continent you can boast an enviable speed led by Singapore, a country with intelligent cities that are leaders in innovation.
01100011 01101111 01101110 01100101 01111000 01101001 11000011 10110011 01101110
Although this country is smaller than the city of New York, Singapore has the fastest Internet on the planet.
There is no doubt that the size of the country has everything in its favor, Singapore as a financial center in Asia will always depend on the digital infrastructure, this feature makes things easier for you to have excellent Internet connections.
A long time ago I read an article that said the following:
Internet speed, an indicator of innovation and economic health
Singapur 193.21 Mbps
South Korea 164.12 Mbps
Hong Kong 157.64 Mbps
Monaco 151.24 Mbps
Rumanía 147.87 Mbps, are within the first 5 places of this ranking
Switzerland 144.34 Mbps
France 131.03 Mbps
Liechtenstein 130.50 Mbps
Countries that closely followed Singapore.
although
The United States can boast the fastest broadband in North America, ranks ninth in terms of speed worldwide 129.81 Mbps
South America.
Within this ranking a Latin American country that is within the 100 with the best connection is
Chile 87.73 Mbps occupying the position No. 30 not bad for this country, I have many friends who emigrated and always comment on the excellent Internet connection
Other countries located in South America, which also appear in the list of the first 100 are:
Barbados 85.67 Mbps
But something that impresses me was to see a country that theoretically is a very poor country and has a better connection than Venezuela.
Haití
Brazil 47.75 Mbps
Venezuela has the worst Internet in the world
Venezuela has the worst Internet in the world outrageous ranking
In Venezuela, the Internet connection is getting worse and worse, reaching the penultimate position of 176 countries with access to the Web.
With a speed of 3.64 MBPS, one point below closely follows Turkmenistan, which has 2.06 MBS.
One, the lack of foreign exchange to buy international bandwidth.
Two, and worst of all is the series of government regulations that do not allow them to have a competitive price.
The economic crisis affecting the country leads to a delay in technology equipment in all areas and sectors. Likewise, power cuts applied by the government or power supply failures are the cause of low connectivity.
Like any communist controlling government they own 60% of the Venezuelan market which uses the ABA CANTV service (Aba means Broadband Access) (CANTV National Telephone Company of Venezuela)
Currently all private providers offer connection speeds close to the Latin American competition.
However and unfortunately I can say it with all the property for using the CANTV service, this state company does not offer a good service because it has absolutely illogical rates and where there are more than a million concurrent failures in Internet speed and of communications nationwide.
But above all the things that I could also observe and which I regret as Venezuelan is to see that the Venezuelan government invested billions of dollars to get two submarine cables to CUBA so that that communist country can have a better connection than Venezuela. Terrible and unfortunate that another country is filled with a service that our country should have
I apologize if with that comment I am hurting sensitivities for that type of government, my publication is not to fall into political issues
It is a not very encouraging scenario for those of us who still live in Venezuela and for some reason we cannot escape from this country.
I only wish that I could improve the connection and many other things in my country
Friend you read me I would like to know what country you live in and what is your connection speed

Hello dear @lanzjoseg:
the impressive truth that we are in such a low position being a country with such wealth, being an oil country, but we already know that it is due to bad management and bad administration of those who are responsible.
The question I want to ask you is, how do you think we can solve or improve the internet speed in the country, what measures should be taken to obtain a better speed or to raise the ranking?

Hi @reinaldoverdu
Friend the answer is very easy for anyone who lives in Venezuela and is the following.
The first thing we should do is get out of the criminal drug dealers who hold positions in the government. Once those criminals are not in the government, I assure you that the recovery of the country economically and technologically can take a period of about 6 to 7 months for that recovery.
Thank you for visiting my publication and thanks for raising that question.

I agree with you it would be the most important thing to get out of those people who accumulate power and cause so much damage to the economy.
But don't you think that you are being too optimistic to think that in six or seven months everything will be stable? Well, hopefully it is like that, I am a little more pessimistic about it and I think the process will take about five or ten years as minimum and good always a pleasure to go and comment on your publications my friend.

I have sent my first E-mail in the late 80ties and lived though all stages of the internet. I am glad that at home (Switzerland) I can down/upload whatever I need. However, I totally change my behavior when I need to work on low bandwidth. Thoughts can be expressed in ASCII. Using GitHub for code or text requires close to zero bandwidth and so does texting. I notice that a low-bandwidth environment forces me away from streaming stuff and encourages me to think and read. I hope your service improves in the future.

Hi @mariusfebruary
Thank you for your good wishes.
I also want the connection service to improve throughout my country.
I would like that in my country there may be a connection width like the one your country has, I congratulate your country is in the 5th place on the list with the best connection on the planet.
When you are sailing do you have any type of satellite connection to navigate or do not have that service on your boat?
Greetings interconnected by web from Venezuela.

If we add to this the failures of electric service, failures due to lack of maintenance in infrastructure and corruption at different levels of management ... Well, the picture is terrible.

@lanzjoseg, Singapore is leading strongly and in a way it's not surprising me. My country is standing on the 68th Position. May be today Venezuela facing the Internet Connection issue but let's hope that in future this issue will resolve. We should expect the unexpected. Stay blessed.
