While it is true that when a family member or friend leaves our physical plane, it hurts our souls and we feel very sad, but when we have a pet we can feel the same way, and miss it just as we miss a human being.
This week I have heard very sad stories about the loss of pets in two homes. The sadness of their owners is reflected in their hearts, and they even feel helpless if they were not able to act in time, or did not have the financial resources to pay for veterinary care.
One of them tells me how sad he has been since he saw his pet, the same one that was so bouncy and always had a good appetite, lying there with very sad eyes. A pain so comparable to other losses, she assured me.
Ideally, we should be able to let go of our grief. It is hard to see how a life that is so innocent deteriorates or suffers an accident and we do not know how to act. It IS easy for those who know the animal to be able to determine that its mood has changed and that something is not right.
One of the elements that sometimes worries me is, that few public pet hospitals are known. This means that veterinary care is only available privately, and this reduces the possibilities for a percentage of the population who cannot afford it.
If you feel like crying, do it! Let's not pretend or be afraid that someone will make a comment, it is our mourning. And if you want to bury him/her, in a place that you consider suitable, there is no problem in doing so, he/she is also a living being!
If there are children, and they were attached to the pets, it will be very painful to say so, but we cannot hide the truth either. We must inform them and also give them as much support as possible. Sometimes, many people choose to look for a new pet immediately, my recommendation is to overcome the grief, because this new member is not the same as the one that left us.
Sometimes, our pets have other companion animals... and they may feel pain when they notice their absence, a situation that also occurs in some wildlife animals.
Hello @Lynnmargullys!
I have lived the experience of losing pets and they have been very painful moments, the love you get to have for them is very great and they are very much needed. Certainly one can feel guilty for not doing more for them but sometimes it is not up to us. Pets must be cared for and protected. Thanks for sharing, greetings!

Hello @lynnmargullys, I have always thought that pets are part of the family, in fact they become an important member of the family. When we lose a pet, it is like feeling that an important part of our life has gone, a pet is a companion at home, it is a noble soul that loves us unconditionally and with great fidelity and innocence, I think that is why we cling so much to they.

Greetings dear, I agree with you, they are part of the family and show us sincere affection. When they get sick, we sometimes despair with impotence, and even more if they leave us... a hug.

I have kept a lot of pets this includes dog, cat and the birds. And I have learned that death is part of the life. And sometimes it happens when we least expect it. So it's always better to enjoy the time with pets while you can. You never know when the trigger is pulled off them by the nature.
