THE CHEMICALS IN SUNSCREENS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON HEALTH

Greetings and welcome dear readers and lovers of this exciting platform, the subject that concerns us this time is related to some chemicals and their impact on health.

Among these products stand out sunscreens and although for many they provide protection, others think that it is a substance that threatens the health of people, so in these lines of writing we will explain the true influence of these substances on the human being.

To answer the above, it is necessary to rely on a series of investigations that have been carried out from the Faculty of Biochemistry and Biological Sciences of Spain, who have proposed that some substances present in sunscreens produce degradation and intrauterine growth retardation that affects sexuality and hinders the formation of sexual organs in the fetus when the woman is in the gestation phase.

Based on the above, the researchers describe the compound Benzophenone 3 as an organic substance responsible for the absorption of solar radiation, especially ultraviolet light and the visible spectrum.

This substance as already mentioned, is capable of passing to the infant once born and cause affections in the process of growth of these, among the results obtained it is demonstrated that the alterations in the fetus, are associated with the decrease in the size of this product of a decrease in the rate of growth of the same.

These results have been obtained, applying the product in pregnant mice with a daily application that models what is used by human beings in a normal or sunny day, the research shows alterations at the level of the population-sex relationship, where the mice to which the chemical substance was applied increased the probability of appearance of the female sex in their offspring, so that the probability of XX chromosomes increase in them.

Thus, this population-sex ratio (sex-ratio) represents a warning system that is being used to predict the behavior and incidence of chemical substances on a given population affected by endocrine disruption.

It is undoubtedly a highly relevant research because of the utility that is being given to this type of product, hence the importance of knowing the chemical conditions for the preservation of people's health.
