Facebook apologizes for the second weekend, services backed up

Both legislators put pressure on Facebook this week after a former whistleblower accused Sunday company of repeatedly making a profit rather than holding hate speech and false information.

Facebook Inc. apologized to users for the two-hour interruption of their services on Friday and blamed another unfortunate change to fix its second shutdown in the world this week.

The company has confirmed that social media platforms, Instagram, Messenger and Workplace have been affected by the recent cut-off.

"We sincerely apologize to anyone who was unable to find our products in the last few hours," the company said. "We have resolved the matter, and everything must be back to normal now."

During the recent expiration, some users were unable to upload their Instagram feeds, while others were unable to send messages to Facebook Messenger.

On Monday, the social media giant blamed the "non-violent change" for a six-hour break that barred the company's 3.5 billion users from accessing social media and messages such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
