Passbook updation through Machine in My Bank

I generally try to visit my bank once in a month and sometimes once in two months if my schedule is busy. I visit there to get my passbook entries updated and it is a practise that many customers follow. I don't use Internet banking and even I do not want to because of security risk. I'm not too good in technology so it is better that I stick to my traditional approach. I use UPI because I know that I can control the money through second layer authentication but with Internet banking I'm not sure. Those who use Internet banking can get the latest transaction data online but for me I need to have it physically through the passbook.

This week when I visited the bank I could see a machine where passbook entries can be done by myself. Now the bank has stopped the dedicated counter for passbook entries. Lot of people visit bank branch just for the passbook entries and I am also one of them. It does not take much time if their printer is working but sometimes their printers are not working. Now because this passbook updation is driven by the technology so no need to ask for the help from any bank staff. They just apply a bar code on the passbook and scanner does the rest of the task for the updation. It scans the bar code and recognize my account number and then it updates the entries that are not printed on the passbook.

The entire process was smooth and did not take more than one minute. It looks like this machine is a bit complicated but trust me it was not difficult to operate this machine and get the task done. I was able to do this even though I'm not so good at technology. I like this experience and it is a good example of the technology that my bank has adopted. State Bank of India is India's biggest government bank. They have got millions of users in the country and now they are also trying to get advanced on the technology. I have realized that in the last few years they have improved a lot which is good for the bank as well as for the customers.

This type of technology solution is very helpful because people need not spend more time standing in a queue. Even banks will be able to reduce the costs because everything is driven by the machine and it is just a one-time investment. Definitely there will be some maintenance costs but I don't think it is going to be so big. It means that technology is growing and expanding its presence. We already have the ATM through which we can withdraw the cache and even there is a machine for cash deposits.

This is the third machine that is there for the passbook update and after this, everything is driven by the technology. I mean most of the services can be performed just by the help of this machine and this is how technology is changing lives. I am happy to see this machine and now I can get my passbook updated even on Sundays or holidays when a bank is not open.
