Thinking like an economist will save you time, energy and resources on so many occasions and of course, you cannot think like an economist except you have an idea about it or you have a little knowledge about its operations. This brings us our second point on the reason why you have to think like an economist- Thinking like an economist will save you the energy that should be spent on things that are unnecessary and irrelevant and even while a normal person may not see those things as a time wasting activity, you as an economist will quickly recognize it and stay away from it as much as you can.
Economist quickly understand and are able to foresee unseen issues, a normal person like me for instance might not really have an issue with spending a certain amount of money at the time I have it but a learned economist will see the danger of spending unnecessarily ahead and inform me of the future problem which if I heed his advice, I will not fall victim of the warned issue. Rather than even always waiting for an economist to tell me what to do all the time, I think it is much better to have a knowledge about the topic myself, no matter how little it is.
Definitely I think most high school kids should at least have some basic knowledge in economics
