I am sure this isn't a great news right now for Google, getting a lot of negative comments for a new product where so much energy has been placed is really not cool.

Pixel 5: defective in the box, Google says it's by design
I wish I could say better things about the Pixel 5, too. As a matter of fact, the reason why I started investigating the Pixel product line is the unusual amount of issues that customers were reporting for every single model, which clearly exceeded what is acceptable for teething issues in a new product; worse, each new model has shown to have its own issues, year after year, which can only be explained by bad design choices. Google is outsourcing manufacturing of the Pixel line as they don't own assembly lines, and what went wrong in Pixel phones so far was traced back to debatable engineering.
It's really not their top skill to design mobile phones, and it shows.
