A silence that makes us complicit

The deafening silence of the Argentine Government regarding the legislative elections in Venezuela is a real shame for our country, which makes us accomplices of the brutal dictatorship that the Venezuelan people are living through and which has subjected a large part of the population of the Caribbean country to really subhuman conditions.

Something unacceptable and incomprehensible that makes their discourse in favor of human rights no more than a great farce used to obtain a greater number of votes by exploiting the suffering that millions of people suffered in our country during the military dictatorships.

This contradiction between speeches and actions is very noticeable and evident and leaves them as one of the few nations in the world that would seem to support Nicolas Maduro's government before the international community, which is a real shame.

There are situations in which one cannot be neutral, and silence is one way of being neutral. Not condemning the regime of the Venezuelan government does nothing but endorse its repudiates.

This situation is very frustrating personally because I have many Venezuelan friends, who are prepared, who have worked and studied many years of their lives to be immersed in a situation that is desperate.

Someday sanity will take precedence over ambition for power and personal interests. Some day I hope to be proud of Argentina when I hear that in Venezuela there was a dictatorship that subjected its people to extreme conditions and is carrying out an ideological genocide.

Big hug to all my Venezuelan friends and know that I feel a deep shame for the disgusting and unacceptable position that the Argentinean government has taken.
