I'm sure many will be wondering if this year's Christmas arrived a bit early. Well, to me, I already have the feelings of Christmas. You will agree with me that this year has been nothing short of awesome; at least for the gift of life and for surviving through the pandemic of 2020 that threw almost the entire world into lockdown. What more can I say? This year's Christmas will definitely be the first post-pandemic one and as such, many plans have been rolled out for it.
Before the pandemic of last year, it had always been in my custom to celebrate the Christmas periods with series of activities like outdoor camping with friends and family, visitations and all, but the pandemic came and things turned out a bit different. Glad that things are starting to normalise and the custom will be resurrected :)
I'm sure that many of you have already mapped out the plans of how your Christmas will look like. Well, I for one, have plans for mine. Obviously, in this part of the world, the Christmas period is often very loud, and celebrations are done in torrents, so you already have an idea if I say that this Christmas is going to be "big."
My plans for Christmas
First of all, it is the duty of everyone to celebrate with their friends and family, and mine will not be any different. There is a very popular adage here that said that:
Christmas is not just 25th December
What this means is that, the days surrounding 25th December are what form part of the Christmas celebration. Yes, the celebration will begin way before 25th. This is a period to unite with friends and family. Even though the price of things (including chicken) is more than twice the price compared to last year, it will not stop this Christmas from being a memorable one.
I have already promised my immediate family a Christmas treat and I'm pretty sure they are waiting for it. You know I can't disappoint them.
Drinks and Suya? Oh yes! I remember how we used to gather in moonlight and crack jokes while drinking and eating suya. Okay if you're not from this part of the world, you won't probably know what suya is. It is a kind of specially prepared peppered grilled meat that is spiced with grinded peanut. I'm so glad that they're no more lockdowns, so a lot of "tales by moonlight" will hold with friends and family.
Remembering others in need? Yes of course! This season is remarkable for extending acts of kindness to others. As a matter of fact, Christmas will not be complete without giving. So it's already part of my plans. Just like my tradition is, I normally visit the less privileged homes and the orphanages to extend a hand of kindness to them, and this time will not be different, rather it will be even bigger - at least as a celebration of our survival of the pandemic. Also I normally give to my friends and families. Well, not forgetting my online friends too.
Finally, we normally hold a Christmas Eve service, of which "Carol of Nine Lessons" will be taken. Even though this year's Christmas Eve service has not been announced yet, but I guess it will hold. If it holds, then you already know what I will be doing on Christmas Eve - singing and dancing.
Without doubt, this Christmas will be a good and memorable one. Okay I'd love to hear about your plans for the Christmas.
I'll drop this nice Christmas song for y'all to have fun with.
Thanks for reading
