One of the things I have understood about life is that it is either you take willing risks or stand the risk of risking even more. There is almost nothing of value that you want to achieve that will not require you to take certain risks. These risks are not convenient but that is the nature of risk. Imagine a business person scared of investing their money or avoid taking risk, how will they make profits? The truth is that the bigger the kind of success you want, the higher the risk you need to take.
One of the things that have kept people on the same stop and has prevented them from moving forward is because they have not taken steps to move forward. The more you are comfortable with where you are, the less advancements you have. If you want to move forward in life, then you have to make a move, and this cannot be done by being scared of risks. Whatever becomes of your life is a function of what you have put into life and the actions (and inactions) that you have taken.
A very remarkable thing that I have understood about life is that it is far less risky to take risks than to stay without taking any. More so, it is better to take a risk and maybe not get the required result than to sit and wish for something to happen without you taking any step. If you have taken a step and you do not get the required result, at least you are better than someone who has not taken any step at all. Of course, by the singular step that you have taken, you would have learnt a couple of things that will definitely make the next attempt that you make to be better and more productive.
One of the reasons why a lot of people do not take risks is fear. This can include fear of negative happenings, fear of uncertainties, fear of the unknown, and even fear of failure. While nurturing these fears, it can limit one from taking steps. However, what they fail to realise is that some of these fears are actually irrational and are only resident in their minds. Your mind is what is creating the fears for you. When you take a step to do what you fear the most, and when you take that long-required risk, you will be surprised to discover that the fears you think you have are only a conception of the mind.
However, it is important to note that there are things that you will need to know in order for the risk to be productive. Firstly; it is better to take an informed and knowledge-based risk. That it, you do not take risks simply because you need to take actions, but because you have knowledge of what you want to do. The more you gain knowledge, the easier it will become to take good risks. If you want to do something that you know nothing about, it may seem like an impossible task, but when you have acquired a considerable knowledge about it, you will be amazed at the ease at which you will take the risk. More so, you have high tendency of succeeding at a step that is taken in knowledge than the one taken in absolute ignorance.
In addition to taking knowledgeable risks, they should also be logical. Imagine trying to do what everyone that has done before failed at without even finding out why they failed at it. There are some steps that are clearly dead-ends and progressing in them will mean progressing in futility. Instead of wasting your time on what will not produce anything, it will be worthwhile to channel the energy on taking reasonable and logical risks. For example; you cannot go ahead and plant a seed on a concrete slab and expect it to yield anything. But if the same seed is planted on a well-fertilised and soft soil, it will yield excellently. This goes to show that the risks that will be worthwhile should be taken rightly.
When taking risks, you have to remove all forms of negative thoughts which can easily influence one's actions negatively. That is, always hope for the best in every step that you are taking. Always have in mind that positive energy is a necessary factor towards taking a productive step.

I totally agree with this post, the thing about life is that at the end of the day, regret still exists. I can imagine just sitting down and thinking about all the opportunities that just passed through me just because i thought there was a better alternative.
NEWSFLASH: there wasn't.
