Nonfungible Tokens or NFTs representing Art have broken into the mainstream.

NBA HOT SHOTS@

Several articles recently announced the public launch, after a successful multi-million dollar private launch of the US National Basketball Association NFT Art project, called NBA Top Shots.

Hotter then Cryptokitties

The first day sales reported surpassed the Legendary Cryptokitties of Ethereum fame.
Estimates from articles I read quoted one million dollar US first day sales and 43 million US to date. An estimated 33 thousand buyers and collectors have registered. Still less then the 92,000 known Cryptokitties collectors, but at the feverish signup pace they may soon exceed that number.

NBA Hot Shots are movie moments

They are not pictures like baseball trading cards. Apparently, each NBA Top Shot NFT contains a short video of a game moment. In addition, like most NFT tokens, each contains unique identifying information, plus the game the moment came from, the importance of the moment in the players career, the players stats for the game, the players game and season averages, and of course...a blockchain-based guarantee of authenticity.

Types of Moments

NBA Hot Shot movie moments are divided into three categories — Common, Rare and Legendary.

Prices

As you would guess, prices are determined by a player’s fame, a card’s rarity and its serial number?

Collectors can purchase NBA Hot Shots moments by the pack, from NBA Hot Shots website
Here the platform’s internet website based marketplace.

Who makes the NFTs?

Apparently Dappler Labs.
Additionally, NBA Top Shot is built on a blockchain protocol called Flow. Flow Token (FLOW) is the native asset for the Flow blockchain and staking allows you to earn both transaction fees and rewards. FLOW is listed on Kraken and coin is trading around $11.30, at the time of this post.

can't we get it like crypto on this platform?

I think it’s available on Steemit engine

How to get it ?

And virtually all of this action is just from the last 30 days! Wowza! Still trying to figure out if the explosive growth in NFTs is purely because of retailer FOMO or if I should look to invest in some collectibles.

Yes. FOMO is strong here
