Grow Into Leadership or Be The Best Deputy!

Leadership is a very attractive position, as it comes with honour, prestige, power, and most times, affluence. These make many people to fight so hard to get into leadership positions. The thought of having people who respond to every of your calls, and follow your dictates puts you in an exalted state of mind. This is why people desire leadership roles, sometimes neglecting whether or not they have the capacity to function in that position.

A leader is someone who can coordinate or manage people, information, finances, and resources in his disposal, just to mention but a few. It is therefore mind boggling how many people fight for leadership posts without having many of these important qualities.

Many want to be president or governor, many want to be finance coordinator or accountant-general, many want to be general overseers of churches, and so on. If you ask most of them why they want these positions, they really have no plan. The truth is we cannot all be leaders, else, who will we be leading? You do not necessarily need a leadership position for you to be influential or make a mark. In fact, you can ride on the wings of leaders to make impact.

Furthermore, some people are better assistants (deputies) than the actual leader. These kinds of people have great ideas and rich wealth of knowledge, but may not have the capacity to manage people to carry them out. Many of the richest men thrive not on their personal ideas or innovation, but because they have employed the help of those who are rich in such ideas.

You not being at the fore-front of an innovation does not make you irrelevant or less important.

You probably do not even need the publicity, as this might be a distraction to you. Today, we have more unripe or half baked leaders in position rather than the qualified ones. Many take leadership positions with great ideas and great zeal, but because they are not well groomed for leadership, their endeavours crumble even before they are able to make impact.

Every successful leader must have first of all gone through a period of training or servitude, during which all skills needed to excel in leadership are acquired. Therefore, if you must take a leadership position, you must ensure that you have mastered the necessary skills, else, take time to grow into it and while you're growing, you can be the best desputy!

hello @tolustx,
I think people see leadership as a kind of throne where the leader just rules, but the reality is that the leader is the one who is willing to go to the front of every battle and who has on his shoulders the weight of all his followers, pressure and failures are an everyday thing when you are a leader.

Leadership comes with enormous responsibilities which should be assumed by the leader. This is why leadership is something that one grows into. You did an excellent piece here buddy

I totally agree with you, some leaders don't have any creativity at all while some grow and look dynamic and effective positive because of their team workers under them, in this country connection are more important to some than finding someone who has a leadership skills.

Very correct. Politics disrupts normalcy or merit. This is why we have many political leaders who have no idea whatsoever about their duties, talk less of their people.
