Troubles in Britannia
With absolutely no time to waste to set the tone, this season rather packs action and emotion quite quickly and nicely starting from the first episode. The Ten Commandments, an elite group of demonic warriors loyal to the Demon King, are unleashed after 1000s of years of captivity. Their arrival feels like a tsunami of sorts that Seven Deadly Sins must face but they are far too powerful to be taken at the same time.
Each Commandment is terrifyingly unique with their associated devastating powers, powers that are far more magical and complex. Their overwhelming presence forces even the invincible Meliodas to confront the weight of his secret dark past, which is intertwined with the Ten Commandments.
Meliodas
The leader, who is always calm and relaxed no matter what the circumstances and consequences, Meliodas falls deep into the depths of despair in this season. He has very close and deep connection to the Ten Commandments. He was once part of the commandments, and he still has a brother who is part of the commandments, and moreover, his father is the Demon King himself. Meliodas is cursed with immortality to suffer. His life is but a punishment.
The Seventh Sin - The Lion Sin of Pride - Escanor
The Day and Night King, the Lion Sin is finally found deep within mountains hidden from the world. He is rather weak and measly character in the beginning but to everyone's surprise his true powers are far more powerful than any of the Sins. He actually kind of kills one of the The Ten Commandments the first encounter with them. Escanor, The Lion Sin of Pride steals the spotlight with his dual persona: a timid, almost meek man during the night and an over-the-top powerhouse by day. His clash with the Commandments are jaw-dropping highlights of the season. His character has humor and maturity to it.
The Struggles
Every one of the Seven Deadly Sins has plenty of leg-room to shine in this season while creating more connection with the audience by forcing them to confront their flaws. Ban's struggle to revive Elaine, and the arrival of Commandments with powers unmatched, i.e. reviving the dead with a purpose, and Ban's loyalty to Meliodas creating interesting twists in the story. Diane faces an identity crisis that challenges her connection to King. Gowther, with his peculiar detachment, becomes a focal point as his origins are revealed in ways that complicate his relationships with the group. Arrival of Escanor with a little less attachment to the group then others also adds to the struggle Seven goes through.
The Fights
The battles in the Revival of the Commandments are a step up in scale and complexity. From one-on-one duels in first season to massive team skirmishes, the fights are as much about strategy and emotional stakes as they are about raw power. The Ten Commandments has abilities and power that Sins struggle to outfight and adapt, leading to unpredictable and exhilarating confrontations.
The World
The world of Seven Deadly Sins expands in this season, starting with the introduction of the Demon Clan and then the Goddess Clan, and the infamous Holy War that ties it all together. The pace of storyline is faster, and it dives deeper into the lore, especially for viewers who aren’t familiar with the finer details of the world, hence making first two seasons a must watch to understand season 3.
My Thoughs
This season is a transformation of characters from patient and calm to the fighters they are supposed to be. The world is bigger and the stakes are higher. The darker side of Meliodas and Ban's fight to revive Elaine, Gowther's disconnect from human emotions and Diane's past, King's inability to defend the Fairy forest and his sister, all are the fights they must take head-on and that's what makes it more complex, and emotionally richer. It delivers unforgettable moments that would keep you coming back for more.
If you’ve made it this far into the saga, this season is a must-watch.
This is the first time I am reviewing anything. I chose to write about Seven Deadly Sins because I recently started my journey for Anime and so far I am loving it. Anime gives the creator the power of telling story the way it can not be done with conventional movie making and its more like a graphics novel about the worlds and characters which are mere imaginations of great minds!
