Greetings plant lovers! This is week 5 of this very exciting challenge, The Steem Plants Contest, hosted by @strawberrry. If you still don't know about this yet, check it out on the link here. Read all about it and then join in the excitement!
For this week I will feature another type of orchids which was on display during our city's foundation day last year. Every year in March, our city, Davao City, in the Philippines, commemorates the anniversary of its founding. It is a weeklong celebration marked with elaborate presentation of the different products the city is known for. One of these is orchids. Davao is home to thousands of orchid growers who sell their produce not only in the country but all over the world. One of these varieties is shown below.
The Cattleya Orchids. Cattleyas are epiphytes (tree-growing) orchids that grow high up in jungle canopies. These orchids like well-drained roots, and a lot of light. Cattleya actually means beautiful person and the Cattleya orchid symbolizes love and fertility.
The display was in one of the malls here in Davao where orchid growers showcase and market their products.
And that's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed this post. Until next week, please stay safe and healthy. Peace be with all of us!
