Holiday

The Russian people have been celebrating holidays since ancient times. Our ancestors were closely connected with nature. For example, people celebrated the arrival of spring and sang "vesnyanki" — small couplets where the sun, spring, and warmth were glorified. This tradition has been preserved to our time. Every year, at the end of winter or the beginning of March, the Carnival is celebrated. It always falls on Sunday. And the previous week is called Shrovetide week. Relatives and friends, according to custom, go to visit, treat each other with pancakes. Maslenitsa Week is the last one before Lent: Orthodox believers prepare themselves for strict restriction. And on festive Sunday, everyone cheerfully sees off the winter, rides in a sleigh and burns an effigy of Maslenitsa.

One of the favorite holidays in Russia is Easter. This is a church holiday, but it is celebrated by everyone: adults and children, Orthodox and unbaptized people. On Easter day, there are cakes and a plate of colored eggs on the table in every house. Easter symbolizes the continuation of life, calls for faith in the best.

In summer, the Russian people celebrate the feast of Ivan Kupala, or Midsummer Day. According to legend, on the night of the sixth to the seventh of July, a fern blooms. Whoever finds this flower will find happiness forever. Girls weave wreaths of flowers, throw them into the water. Such a wreath will definitely be taken out of the water by a beloved young man. Since ancient times, our people have a tradition of jumping over a burning bonfire on a festive July night. This is how people showed strength, bravery, and were "cleansed" of all bad things.

There are many Russian holidays. They are part of the culture of our people because they reflect the lives of Russian people. Diligence, courage, faith in the best are the main folk qualities that glorify our holidays.
