Changa Manga Park being maintained by the Punjab Forest Department, Kasur Forest Division is one of the very few parks for out-door recreation in Pakistan. Every month about large number of peoples from all walks of life visit this spot. Due to lack of recreation facilities in the Province in general and the adjoining areas of Lahore in Particular, it has over the years become one of the most frequently visited parks in the country. Some facilities for recreation in the form of Lunar Lake for boating, a pagoda, picnic lawns, suspensions and cantilever bridges, swimming pool, mini zoo and the wild life parks which are connected by a Tramway have been developed from the resources of the Forest itself. In addition there is four bed room Motel and the new four beds and five bed Forest Rest Houses for visitors. Jungle Train enroutes from DFO office to Motel Rest Houses and ownward to Lunar Lake and back. Timings from morning to evening on all Sundays and other gazzeted holidays. The fair for children is Rs. 20/ each and for adults Rs. 40/ each were as special booking for Rs. 400 per hour per bogi also avaliable.

Zoo
Wildlife zoo have been established to maintain wild animals in captivity in a state as close to nature as possible for specific public recreation and education . Breeding of wlid animals in captivity is another objective of zoo establishment. Presently different types of birds and mammals are part of the zoo which includes blue bull, Monkey, Urial, spotted deer, Peacok and Patridges etc.

Lunar Lake
A very beautiful wooden bridge has been constructed on lunar lake in 1970. This bridge was designed and constructed with the help of Army Engineers. This single span bridge hanging with the help of steel ropes in the lane without pillars and is painted with multicolor and is the most interesting item in the plantation. One swings as one walks. The youngsters both boys and girls obtain ecstasy as they tread on it and the old have mocking grim on their faces.

Pagoda
Two stories Wooden Pagoda made in the lake which resembles Buddhist Pagoda stands on Kikar wood pillars. The building consists of two stories and is a beautiful wood lock monument. Painting with multicolor added to its grace.

Thokr Niaz Baig to Changa Manga 70 km 45 Revealing several shades of nature’s beauty and existing with all its glory, the Changa Manga Forest has been serving as a source of entertainment and amusement to the people for many decades. Bike trips, camping and cycling tours are a regular feature for adventure lovers, who throng the forest to enjoy every bit of the scenic facility. Besides, the visitors also have the opportunity to organise picnic trips that are arranged by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab throughout the year.

Located just 80 kilometres south-west of the city of Lahore, the forest is the largest man-made forest in Asia. It also hosts a wildlife park that covers an area of 40 acres which was built in 2008.

The forest hosts a wide variety of flora and fauna. Changa Manga is home to 14 species of mammals, 50 species of birds, six species of reptiles, two species of amphibians and 27 species of insects.

The forest was originally planted in 1866 by British foresters. Its trees were harvested to gather fuel and resources for the engines employed in the North-Western railway networks.

Road to fame

The name of the forest is derived from an amalgamation of the names of two brothers who were bandits, Changa and Manga. They were a constant source of terror for the residents of the districts in the 19th century as they would hold up and plunder any passing trader.

The robbers had a den in the secret heart of the forest where they sought shelter from the British peacekeepers. The robbers were eventually captured by the police and became the inspiration for the name of the forest site. Soon afterwards, The Salvation Army opened up a camp at the forest site as a place for reformation of criminals.

Earlier, parts of the forest were developed into a recreation park with a railroad that gives the visitor a 5-kilometre (3.1 mi) ride on a miniature train through the forest. Other attractions include a water turbine, a waterfall, a children’s play area, and Lunar Lake.
