Catalunya 2017
The photos I present you below were made in 2017, when, my husband, me, and our dog, Bestia, went for two months long trekking to Catalunya. We have entered the country from the coastal city Cerber, then trekked to Gosol, a small town located near the highest peak of continental Spain (Pedraforca). We have spent over a month volunteering in a mountain hostel, chopping the wood for the winter, cultivating vegetables in the nearest garden, and talking with the owner of the shelter, Roger.
The trip was challenging. We walked with 25 kg in the backpacks approximately 600 km, most of that distance in the mountains. Having a dog with us was not helpful most of the time. Even though Bestia was a very well-behaved animal and he knew that he should always be next to us, so he didn't make any trouble in that meaning, but we were forced to pack the food for him which was extra few kilograms of the weight.
We were sleeping in the tent, somewhere into the wild, protected in the night by our dog. During the day we were enjoying the nature, simplicity of 8 hours long walk, which worked for me like meditation and, sometimes, the architecture of old towns with the hospitality of the citizens who lives there. Catalunyans are very friendly and helpful people - many times when we were in trouble they used to make our lives easier by simple acts of kindness, like refilling our bottles with the water, pointing to the nearest shop or even once or twice allowing us to put the tent in the garden in front of their homes.
