Hello Hivers! It is a sunny #MarketFriday 😊 in #MyCalifornia !
The California Honey Festival is traditionally held in my town on the first Saturday of May. It was scheduled for May 2, 2020, but it goes without saying that COVID-19 has impacted many scheduled events nationwide.
The festival is always well attended by local folks and festival-goers from all over Northern California. This year would have been the third year for me to attend the event. Here are some photos I took at last year's festival as I reminisce the fun time I had.
There was so much to see and do for the entire family. Adults and kids alike explored the Honey Lab, which I found very entertaining, interesting, and educational.
While I had some idea about bees, going through the Honey Lab and festival booths reminded me of the little that I know. I re-learned and understood better how bees pollinate, how honey is made, learned more about beekeeping, pollination, and creating bee-friendly gardens.
It was a fun and relaxing day just browsing the stalls of handmade crafts and artisan foods.
I met new people from my neighborhood and other nearby cities.
I recall being treated to a couple of glasses of honey wine by two guys who were visiting the festival. Their choice of drink was pints of honey beer. They were great company as we enjoyed listening to the sounds of live music from the main stage that was set up for the festival.
And of course, there was plenty of California honey to sample and interesting dishes centered around the use of honey as an ingredient.
It is the sweetest festival ever!

Honey is very interesting. It doesn't spoil and is good to take with lemon for colds. I would love the opportunity to go to a honey festival. I'm glad you had a good time last year and sorry you had to miss it this year. Thanks for sharing sis! Have a wonderful weekend!😘🌻🤗

After having the opportunity to sample all the different local honey of California, I appreciate the subtle differences in the flavors of honey from the nectars collected by bees from different region/areas and flowers! It is amazing!

The Honey festival looks like a fun time, My oldest son was making what he called Mead. He was making this with/from Honey, and it was very good!
Lets all hope that we get a handle on this Corona Virus so we can have wonderful times like this again soon!😀

Yes, Mead is the oldest alcoholic beverage in the world! I have not tried fermenting honey... perhaps one of these days I shall!
Spring and summer are the times of the year (although it seems to be almost year-round here where I live) when we have festivals almost every other week, plus the farmers' market is always fun. I hope that soon we will all transition back to normal and that we will all have a better perspective in life because of this experience.

What an awesome festival! I loved tagging along with you! I can't believe all the different honey they have there! I know it's a festival, but, hello!? That is a grand supply there!
I had my first honey wine a few years ago at a Mother Earth News Fair and they called it Mead. It was the most amazing tasting. I had never had it before that. I bought some of that. They even told us how to make it (it was basically fermented honey!)
I love the picture of you shimmying up the tree! :) They were all abuzz over it!
