I'm proudly sporting this hoe on my neck as I join my fellow Christians in cleaning our assembly ground. With our 3-day regional convention kicking off tomorrow, we're ensuring our worship space is spotless. As a Christian, I believe a clean environment is essential for honoring God. It's been a delightful experience working alongside my lovely brothers and sisters in Christ, bonding over our shared faith and community service.
Today began early, as I rose at 6am to join my family for our morning worship. Afterwards, I washed my dad's bus, which we'd be using to transport volunteers to the assembly ground. With everything in order, my dad and I set off to pick up those who kindly offered to help with the cleaning. We collected them from the designated meeting points and headed to the assembly ground, ready to start our task.
Upon arrival, we received a thorough briefing on how to work diligently while prioritizing safety and avoiding injuries. We were also reminded of the reassuring Bible scripture that promises our efforts, when done in honor of Jehovah, will not go unrewarded. Next, we were assigned our designated work area for the morning – the toilet facilities. Before commencing our tasks, we took a moment to pray and commit our work into Jehovah's hands, seeking his guidance and blessing.
Before washing the toilet and floor, we began by sweeping away the dirt and sand to make the cleaning process more efficient. Our team worked harmoniously, united by a shared goal and a sense of brotherhood. We divided tasks effectively, with each person contributing their strengths: some swept, others washed, and some rinsed the floor. I was responsible for fetching water, ensuring a steady supply to keep our momentum going. By sharing the workload, we were able to complete the task quickly and effortlessly, demonstrating the power of teamwork and collaboration.
After completing our task, I took a well-deserved break. Reflecting on the experience, I realized the importance of capturing memories through photographs. I seized the moment, taking a selfie with my friends to commemorate our collaborative effort. This moment was particularly special, as I'd previously undertaken cleaning tasks here alone. Having my friends by my side made the experience more enjoyable, and the photo will serve as a cherished keepsake.
After rehydrating and taking a short break, we embarked on our next task: removing unwanted weeds from the entrance of our Assembly Hall gate. Armed with hoes, we diligently worked the ground, striving to leave it smooth and immaculate. Although weeding was unfamiliar territory for me, making it a challenging task, the encouragement and support from my Christian brothers and sisters helped me push through. With their cheers and motivation, I worked tirelessly, as if I had been doing it for years.
Undeterred by the muddy and waterlogged areas, we rolled up our sleeves and used our hands to meticulously remove the unwanted weeds. To enhance the appearance of the area, we added a layer of sand and small granite, effectively covering the water and transforming the space. Our team leader was impressed with our diligence and creative problem-solving.
A friend of mine, skilled in operating a cutting machine, was tasked with trimming the overgrown grass. I watched in awe as he expertly maneuvered the machine, effortlessly cutting through the thick blades as if they were mere whispers. I waited patiently for him to complete his assigned section, impressed by his proficiency.
After a 30-minute wait, my friend finished cutting the grass and handed over the task to another team member to complete the final touches. With our work for the day accomplished, we proceeded to wash our hands, prioritizing good hygiene. We also thoroughly cleaned and maintained our tools to ensure they remained in good condition and ready for future use. That was how today's cleaning work in preparation for our 3 days regional convention ended. Our convention starts tomorrow💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
