THE DIARY GAME: ATTENDING A SOLEMN ASSEMBLY AT MY WORK PLACE:(22:02:2024)

I trust you all are doing well! Ask of me, I am just perfect. I want to share my experience attending a Solemn Assembly at my workplace, UCTH. It was a remarkable day filled with professional duties, insightful discussions, and a unique gathering of healthcare professionals. Hup in let's enjoy the ride together 🤩

This is how it goes, my day began as usual, I arrived at work earlier than usual, then began reading through reports from the previous day's shift. Thereafter, I attended to pending emails and incomplete tasks from the previous day's duties before heading to the diabetic clinic with my colleague.

The health presentation at the clinic was handled by my colleague, who focused on "The Role of Protein in the Management of Diabetes." Afterward, we took time to clear our patients' doubts regarding questions from their diet choices and guided them according on how to make nutritionally balanced decisions. Once the task at Diabetes was completed, we hurriedly joined the rest of the hospital staffs and healthcare professionals for a Solemn Assembly to honor the memory of two nurses who had passed away and to pray for the growth of our hospital.

While at the event, surprisingly the assembly turned out to be more uplifting than sorrowful. Various staff organizations presented song renditions in different tunes and languages, making the moment lively. One of my highlights was seeing a friend, who had never been a choir member, conducting his group with such enthusiasm, making the entire hall burst into laughter. Thereafter, Pastors from different denominations were invited, leading powerful prayer sessions which focused on the well-being of the staff and the hospital.

After the prayer session, we transitioned into the second part of the event, which was a town hall meeting with the Chief Medical Director (CMD). This session allowed staff from different departments to voice their challenges and receive direct responses from the hospital management. Not only that, the Finance Director addressed financial concerns, while the Environmental Officer tackled sanitation issues. Doctors, nurses, and dietitians also had their concerns addressed by the CMD, CMAC, and Director of Administration.

This interactive session provided much-needed concern and clarity about the hospital’s future plans. Then meeting ended with prayers and light refreshments, after which we returned to our departments to wrap up any pending work before heading home. It was indeed a wonderful and fulfilling day!
