MY FUN WORK MOMENT 🌹

Attending the thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate my country Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day was a remarkable experience, one that united the hearts of many in gratitude and hope for our great nation. This event took place at The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Duke Town Parish in Calabar, a historic and significant church, which added to the weight of the celebration. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with anticipation, as the congregation gathered early to be part of this momentous occasion.

The presence of the Governor and his entourage made the event even more special. They arrived with a sense of purpose, recognizing the significance of celebrating Nigeria’s 64 years of independence in a place that holds historical relevance. The church service was a blend of worship and reflection, led by various choir groups that rendered soul-stirring ministrations. Each choir performance brought a different flavor of worship, as the choirs praised God with passion, their voices soaring in unison, echoing throughout the parish. It was a powerful reminder of the unity in diversity that characterizes our nation.

Bible lessons were taken from 2nd kings 23: 1-3 and Romans 13: 1-7 each carefully selected to remind us of God's faithfulness and grace upon Nigeria. These passages echoed themes of perseverance, hope, and the promises of God for nations that seek Him. The congregation was further uplifted when the General Overseer of the church took to the pulpit to deliver the Word of God on the topic: Building the nation of our dream. He also stressed on the three things that a leader needs in ok there to successfully build the nation of our dream which are; three things to build the nation of our dreams:

  1. conviction
  2. commitment
  3. consistency

The sermon was timely, focusing on the need for the nation to turn to God in this season, to rely on His wisdom, and to foster peace and unity among all Nigerians. He spoke with authority and love, calling on everyone to pray for the nation and its leaders.

The history of Duke Town Parish was shared, that, with the church being 165years old now this gives us a deep sense of pride as we reflected on how the church has been a beacon of light and faith in Calabar for generations. This church, deeply intertwined with the city’s heritage, stood as a symbol of resilience, much like our country.
