Me at Shaheed Minar : Monument for Language Movement

I am a Bangladeshi, Bengali is my pride. This isn't just a medium by which we communicate, this is what we are. In the Language Movement of 1952 our ancestors sacrificed their lives to preserve its honour. This movement returned our mother tongue to us, and it left us being able to understand who we were. On today's International Mother Language Day, the whole world celebrates 21st February.

The Bengali language is a beautiful and emotional language. From Rabindranath Tagore’s book Gitanjali to Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Bidrohi our literature is loved all over the world. It is my pride because this language is what I dream in, feel in, and enjoy life in.

Bengali is the language of about 1,300 years old. Its origin is Sanskrit and belongs to the Indo European family. Charyapada, written in a language of common people, dates between the 8th and 12th centuries, is thus the oldest known form of Bengali.

Bengali came to be made more powerful in this way in the Middle Ages by poets like Vidyapati and Chandidas. It was popular during Mughal rule because common people used it every day.

On February 21, 1952, Bengali was given lots of people lives like Salam, Rafiq, Barkat and Jabbar. This sacrifice made this a state language and later the national language of Bangladesh.

communication-gap-flat-style-illustration-vector-design_538610-305.jpgMiscommunication

When people don’t understand each other clearly miscommunication happens. That means we need be clear when we speak to avoid it. It is important to use simple and easy words,In a country like Bangladesh where people speak so many languages.

It's helpful to pay attention to how the listener reacts. If they look confused, we should explain again, or let them ask questions.

Avoiding hurtful words will help avoid problems too. People who speak politely are better able to trust and comprehend each other.

If there’s a misunderstanding, we should patiently explain again. It helps to build stronger relationships and it clears up confusion.

How to create effective communication?

conversation-concept-illustration_114360-1534.jpgEffective Communication

Below i give some tips for effective communication.

A message must be clear, simple for a good communication. If there is too much information, or too difficult words, people can get confused.

One thing we also have to think about is the background of the listener. Many people all the way over there in Bangladesh speak different regional languages. When you respect their language and culture, then it's better when communicating.

Other forms of technology, i.e. social media, and emails can also be used. This speeds messages and gets messages out to a wider audience.

Being respectful and sincere is most important when it comes to speaking because that way the message is understood well. It also functions to build up trust and avert confusions.
