The Light of My Life: My Mother’s Inspiring Journey |

My mother. She is an ordinary woman but there is an extraordinary story behind all that simplicity. She’s the first teacher, the first source of inspiration, my safe haven who has always shielded me. Whenever I am stuck in life I find courage and this courage comes from her.
My Mother |
---|
My mother is a village girl of Bangladesh. Her childhood was not easy. They weren’t a very rich family. My mother was very much interested in studying. During those days, in rural areas, girls were supposed to be married rather than dedicated on education. A marriage proposal was issued when my mother was only 12. She told her family that she wanted to continue her studies.
It’s her determination that turned her into one of the girl of her village to pass SSC exams. But this wasn’t easy. But facing many challenges she never gave up. She got many other girls in the village go to school. She often saved her own tiffin money to buy books and supplies, for other girls. This way, she served as an inspiration to all.
My father married my mother through an arranged marriage. Neither was my father financially well off. My mother supported and worked hard for my father to improve his business with time. She wasn’t just a wife after marriage, she became an advisor to my father and his business. I remember when I saw my father request for her help on something that he did not comprehend. She will also give him courage and make him think of solutions.
Deep kindness and a willingness to help others is one of my mother's best qualities. A family that used to live next door lost her husband, and the woman was left with three children. My mother stepped in to help. For her she bought a milking cow. A few months later, that woman was self sufficient. It taught me that a woman’s strength and kindness can turn someone in a different direction.
During my teenage years were probably the biggest lesson my mother taught me. At the time i was in class nine. My mother heard one night that a girl in our neighborhood was being forced into marriage. She went to the girl’s house without hesitation. "This is our private matter," the family said. Why are you interfering?” My mother didn’t back down. She told them how bad early marriage is. She then paid for the girl’s education, and blocked the marriage.
Me with my Sweet Mother |
---|
When I’ve been in trouble, my mother has been there by my side. I share my problem with her and he always manage to find a solution. My mother is my role model.
Courage and determination were those of a woman, I learned from my mother. She taught me a woman can keep getting up again and again, with effort and belief. No matter how many times a woman falls.
My mother’s story is simple but her life inspires me. She showed me that things would be hard but that real victory is based when you stand up to it with courage. My mother is so much more than my mother, she's the light of my life and my daily inspiration.
