Trust we all had a great day. A big congratulations to the hind whale community for being selected in this season to host the weekly engagement challenge. This is a very big achievement and step for the hind whale community.
This is my very first post in this community and I'm so excited to be making an entry here
The contest of this week is a very important. It brings back old memories of our childhood and playmates. While growing up, we enjoyed playing these games so much. They were very much interesting to us and it was majorly played in our country, Nigeria
Tyre Race
Source
This game is peculiar to the Male children of Nigeria. In this game, the main object of fun is riding a tyre to the finished line. It can be the tyre of a vehicle, but mostly that of a motorcycle or bicycle. This is because the tyre of a motorcycle is lighter and easier to ride.
In this game, every child will have his/her tyre and then the race begins. The first child to ride his tyre to the finished line wins the price
Tinko Tinko
Source
Personally, I am a top champion in this game in my neighborhood. It is mostly played by little girls. The girls are paired in 2, where they face each other, clapping and interchanging hands in an ordered pattern. As this goes on, they sing "Tinko Tinko Tinkololo"
Hide and Seek
Source
This is popularly known as boju boju in my neighborhood. In this game, the children gather round, one person volunteers to be seek while other children go into hiding. The seeker closes his/her eyes and starts counting from 1-10 while others go to hide. After the count of 10, the seeker goes in search of the hiders. The first one he catches, replaces him and becomes the seeker
If you're born in
Source
I know people who played this game can relate very well to how interesting this one is. In this game, the children gather round, and the leader starts singing "if you are born in (then a month of the year is called, starting from January) come out and dance". Then children born in this mouth, steps out in their different dance steps. We used this game to know our birth month partners.
Willie Willie Change your style
This used to be my favourite back in the days. Children will be chanting "Willie Willie Willie Willie". Then the best part of it is when the leader will say change your style, then the children will strike a pose, then the leader will say another style, the children will strike another style. Finally, the leader will say be like that. Now, the children will remain at that position, the leader will start saying funny jokes and making funny faces to throw the children off balance. Then last child to laugh or alter his position becomes the winner
Conclusion
There were so many ways or things people remember their childhood for. One way I remember my childhood is by the games we played. These games have formed us and we cannot forget about it. Every Nigerian child must have played one or two of these games while growing up
I will invite @fredquantum @wilmer1988 @goodybest to join this contest
That dance, a friend of the leader who stands in the center and begins to sing and name a month and the child must go out to dance, is really exciting because it makes us dance.
Hide and seek was also a fun game, of the games you have on your cover I used to play metra and also the gomera, these used to be fun in our childhood, how could we forget each one of them, thanks for the invitation, friend.
