“Steemit Engagement Challenge - S13/W3 - How SEC Improved Engagements on the Steemit Platform?"

Greetings from the motherland-Cameroon to all friends of the Hindwhale community. This is the third week of the season 13 engagement challenge and I am happy to share ideas about the topic.

This week, our focus is on the topic "How have SEC improved engagements on the Steemit platform?". This is an amazing topic because the engagement challenge has been a great way to help users to be active, creating content daily. To further share my thoughts about the topic, I will follow the guiding questions below 👇.

What was Steemit like before the SEC?

I joined steemit when the project SEC was not ongoing. However, there was the season 3 diary game (unending season) ongoing. Some communities writing your diary game had no attention because those communities were not into diary game content. I remember when I posted my first diary game in one community and had no upvote or comment.

There were communities like the Steem Africa community at that time where one could post diary games and had support from the big hands.

Notwithstanding, writing the diary game every day becomes boring as you keep repeating the same routines almost every day. Also, exposing a lot about yourself online poses a security threat.

Interactions started dropping as many became bored reading the daily activities. Some people could not post daily and some found it difficult to share their daily routines and stopped posting.

Communities where users focused more on the diary game, ended prematurely but some other communities stood their ground by organising different contests to enable their users to stay active.

Discuss the changes you noticed in Steemit following SEC.

As I earlier said, before SEC, many users had no focus on what to write daily apart from the diary routines. This caused many users to stop posting because they had no ideas to create new content daily.

The SEC came and allowed many users to create daily content based on different topics. It equally boosted the engagement of other users by constantly commenting.

The SEC has also increased competition amongst users as most users strive every day to come out season winners each week.

The SEC came and has been helpful to communities to use the opportunity and build community SP to support their users.

How many of the seven weekly challenges can you participate in each week?

It is very difficult for me to participate daily in the engagement sessions because I’m too committed either with office work, building a career, taking care of my kids and then managing the home.

Creating content daily requires a lot of patience to create quality content. I usually participated in at least one challenge per week when I was too busy. In some weeks when I’m less busy, I create about 4 entries per week.

How does the SEC change your personnel interests and involvement on Steemit?

The SEC has made it easy for me to share different content based on the different topics more frequently. It has also made it possible for me to be able to be more interactive on the platform via comments.

The SEC is interesting as one can easily make friends via engaging in commenting. It has helped many communities to build Steem power to use it and support their users.
