Greetings, friends! How are you all? I hope you’re all doing well and writing your posts daily. So, let’s begin today’s diary.
This morning, I woke up around 8 AM, and honestly, the sleep at home is so good that you don’t even realize when the morning arrives. While I was still in bed, I heard my mom’s voice from downstairs. She was buying vegetables, and I had to pay the vendor. I went downstairs, paid the vegetable vendor, and then came back up to finish my daily routine tasks. I also cleaned my room to make it look neat.
In the meantime, my dad mentioned that we had to attend a tilak ceremony today, so he asked me to clean the car and get ready. I went downstairs and saw the kids sitting outside, soaking up the sun.
I played with the kids for a while, then asked them to step aside so I could clean the car with a hose. After washing and cleaning the car, I went to the rooftop, where my mom gave me some halwa. I ate the halwa and an achaar made by my mom, and then after taking a bath, we left for the tilak ceremony.
We reached the location of the tilak ceremony in about 30 minutes. I’d like to mention that the tilak was for a relative from our village, Unwas, who had invited us. Since the tilak ceremony was held in our city, Allahabad, we attended it. After a long time, we got to meet people from our village. My father was very happy to meet everyone, especially his old friends who had also come. These days, it has become rare for us to visit the village after moving to Allahabad.
The tilak ceremony began around 2 PM, and once it was over, we all had lunch and greeted everyone before leaving. We reached home around 5 PM.
In the evening, we received an invitation from my uncle. He informed us that his son recently got married, and according to tradition, the new bride prepares food for the family and relatives at her in-laws’ house. Everyone eats the food she cooks and gives her blessings and gifts during the muh dikhai ceremony.
We planned to visit his house around 7 PM. But before that, I had a craving for the local imarti, so I started the car and drove to Mama Bhaja Ke Talab at around 6:30 PM to get some imarti. After enjoying the imarti, we returned home and got ready to visit my uncle’s house.
When we reached his place, we greeted everyone and took their blessings. I noticed that the halwai (cook) was busy preparing food, and soon we began eating.
After the meal, we gave blessings and gifts to the new bride during the muh dikhai ceremony. A photoshoot followed, and afterward, we all returned to our respective homes.
So, this was the diary of my day. I hope you liked it, as I tried to share a glimpse of Indian culture with you all.
Your nephew and niece are soo adorable ☺️. So nice to read your diary, I’m sure it feels good to be home 🏠 .
