Contest| A Letter to My Future Self

Hi Dev,

I hope this letter finds you and your wife in the best of your health and spirit. You have gone too far off, but I sincerely hope you are reading this. I am sure you’re reading this letter sitting in a king-size swing on the lawn of your premier villa that you always mentioned with your glittering eyes full of confidence.

I always knew that you were among the top achievers envied by those listed in Forbes’ list for their achievements. You grew faster than every other teammate you worked with, even if they branded you as a workaholic.

I always looked at your face as and when you talked about your dream house at the banks of the Ganges in the foothills of the Himalayas in a place overlooking the Ganges flowing with all its beauty and white water at a great speed, making a wonderful sound of fast-flowing water and the snow-clad hills from the windows of your sitting room.

I always loved your voice when you talked about at least 1400 sq meters of land with over 400 sq meters constricted area, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and a widespread backyard with fruit trees and flowers, and I am sure you already have that tennis court-sized grass area with covered chairs near the Olympic-sized swimming pool.

I know you would love your time in that premium retirement house with all the glorious fittings controlled by artificial intelligence with the 5G internet provided by Airtel. I am sure you're enjoying all the features and gadgets with a 6-star energy rating, double-glazed windows, and all rooms with Kashmir wool carpets.

I hope you have the best fittings available in your bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, etc. I know you, Dev, you must have thought of many of the designs and features you must have incorporated with the help of your architect and house designer, which you were so fond of.

I am sure your wife, not so easy to please must have pushed you hard to get all the best brands of gadgets in her kitchen, especially the chimney, dishwasher, cooktop, and accessory. Did she do the shopping herself or let her interfere with her choices? I was laughing, imagining your funny face when she said "no" to all your suggestions.

I know you must have taken care of the kingsize bed, 5-piece sofa, and other fittings in the kingsize guest room reserved for your fussy daughter. Is she coming often to see you two from the UK in the coming winter weather? I hope you have gifted her the Tesla car she has been insisting on for a long time.

I know you love camping at the riverbank during the night, so you must enjoy the best of the facilities available on your own for a night camping in your front yard and often going for whitewater rafting available close to your house.

I believe you are still enjoying walking and jogging in that hilly area and have not gone too lazy during your retirement or taken the help of a walking stick. I hope all your body parts are functioning well and you are enjoying your retired life peacefully.

I have no doubt whatsoever that you must have added many more countries to the list of different countries that you had either visited or served officially. I know you always wanted to travel the world once you decided to quit your job and complete your book. I will write in my next letter if you have added those countries to the list of countries you visited already.

Finally, I am looking forward to listening to the world acknowledge your 300-page travel book that was your dream project with one hundred travel destinations with your camera work that would match the best in travel books.

I know why you joined Steemit (smile) to refine the art of blogging so you could complete your book with the added knowledge of writing and videography and use the knowledge in the company of wonderful young people full of energy and knowledge. I am more than sure you have used all that experience productively.

  
I know you did nothing for nothing in your life, so you must be taking advantage of this website to sharpen your skills. However, I would never be there to ask you about your progress or see all these from my own eyes because you have gone too far from me. I am sure you're capable of doing all this.
