New yam festival in my land, my culture my pride.

Hello steemians and dearest friends, I greet you all. How are you doing today? I trust you are hearty and healthy. It's another new day and we are happy in it. In my post today, I want to share with you the ideas behind new yam festivities in my land. I Welcome you to my publication for the day"New yam festival"

August of every year, comes celebration of new yam in Igbo land (Izzi). This is an age long culture in this part of the world, Igbo land. Though the time for this festivities varies but within same season and intervals of months. This is a great celebration. The festivity that marks the maturity of a new yam, as due for harvest or consumption.

New yam festival in this world part, is celebrated, when the priest declares the date. There this community of the land elders where the declaration ceremony is meant to happen by offering some traditional sacrifices, thanking the gods for the successful year farm yield and after that ritual ceremony, the general ceremony date, is then announced and declared to the public.

Recently, there is some objections based on people's differcial believe. The church, in their own way celebrate different day, allergies that the activities of priest is an idol worship. Therefore, their celebration day, shouldn't coinside. Not withstanding, new festival, regardless of the different date believed best, is a big significant and recognised ceremony in Igbo land and beyond.

On the day, special soups are being prepared and the yam is being harvested by the father of the home. The yam is first cooked and eaten before it is is being pounded to be used on those special soups. The delicacy in the this day festivities is an event never forgotten in haste. New yam festivals is prepared for as the yam begins to conclude consumable maturity from June, July and August.

This year new yam festival is going to be special among all others which has been taking a stand so far over the years. This is because this year, there is a minimal complaint by farmers of pastes infestation. Welcome to Igbo land (Izzi). Join us 2023 new yam festival. Enjoy with us fully invited.
