Steemit Engagement Challenge / SEC-S19 / W5 | " Why is gender equality necessary?

It is my pleasure to participate in this engagement challenge in this honourable community, as a lady I am always happy to talk about this kind of topics as it pertains to real life situations. I will not bore you with long epistles but I will make it as brief as possible and to the point. Have a great read.

Gender equality

Gender equality can be referred to as the removal of all special preferences given to a particular gender, in other words, like the word equality meaning having the same value and gender really seen broadly as "sex" the quality of a human to be either male or female. Hence, gender equality encompasses the treatment both the male and female or any other gender as the same, without any special treatment given to any of them.

Advantages of gender equality

1. It brings about the feeling of belonging: the inferior sex in the society with gender equality being practiced feels among, and tend to have more courage.
2. It reduces the sense if entitlement: in the society, a particular gender is attributed to the feeling that provision of needs rests on their shoulder. For instance, it is common for the males to feel that their whole duty is solely to provide . Gender equality helps to adjust such thinking.
3. Equality: with gender equality it reduces the society to one with no extra pride because ur simply a male or a female.

My answer to this would be yes, reasons being that the men are over working theirselves majorly trying impress or keep up with the society standards ranking men as the one who are expected to work their ass out, I think gender equality would help to reduce this.

My thoughts on gender equality even with the circumstances going on is that the equality would help to bring the society closer reducing all inferiority complex and taking out entitlement helping to create a good environment for healthy competition, hence I say gender equality is needed.
In my country women suffer a lot because of being termed a weaker vessels and are assigned menial task. They are not allowed to showcase their full potential.

On gender equality, I would like that our children be educated on the fact that gender is just a classification and doesn't come with any special role needed to be played.
They should be taught that as a woman you can be anything you want to become provided you put your mind towards. The male child should be educated not to look down on their female counterparts but see them as being able to do any task that they want.

There should be seminars about this and the school curriculum should be made to ensure that gender equality is taught from nursery to university level.
