Hi friends how are you all? I hope everyone is doing great, I am too. I am excited to let you know that I am participating in the contest “My best travel story”. A big thanks to @deepak94 for organising this contest. I am thankful to all my fellow steemians for their wonderful support. Day by day I’m getting better at it 😃. So let’s start with my post.
“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” — Jeppe Ringsted.
We took a flight from Ahmedabad to Goa to attend my cousin’s wedding. I was accompanied by my parents, who had come to India from Mozambique just a few days before we had to leave for Goa. We arrived at Mopa (Manohar) International Airport. The wedding took place in Parra, Goa, which was around 23.3 km from the airport.
As we arrived very early in the morning, we thought of having some coffee at the airport because the hotel where we were supposed to put up would not have such an early check-in. As we arrived, we informed my uncle, and he sent us the location and advised us about how to reach the hotel, as he had already spoken to them about our check-in timing, and he said we could go; that would not be an issue. As soon as I reached, the first thing I did was try on my dress as I was the bridesmaid for the wedding. I was quite happy with it because it was perfectly stitched, even without the tailor taking the measurements physically herself, but she managed it just by having me send it to her via text.
We were one of the first ones to arrive. Slowly slowly all of our family members started to arrive. And when everyone was there, we all had our breakfast together like one big family 😃😇. We quickly finished up our meal, chatted with each other and were very happy to see each other as we all were meeting after a long time. The first day was the Roce, A Roce ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding ritual in the Catholic Goan communities that involves anointing the bride and groom with coconut milk and oil. The ceremony usually begins with prayers and singing of Konkani songs. The elderly in the family apply the coconut milk to the couple, followed by the parents, relatives, and friends.
The Roce ceremony took place at the same hotel where we were staying, so there wasn’t much of a hassle to travel to and fro. After the roce, we all had a dance 💃 party and then had our dinner 🍽️. We danced to all the Konkani songs and some Bollywood numbers as well.
The second day of our trip was the Wedding Day. It was the day when the nuptials would take place. I woke up early in the morning, and I had to travel to my cousin’s house as she was going to get ready there. She was so anxious about everything going well even 3 days before the wedding she wasn’t able to relax.
The makeup artists were already here to get her hair and makeup done. She was the most stunning bride. Before she got ready we also took a photoshoot with both of us bridesmaids and along with that there was a video shooting of the bride answering some questions about her about to be husband.
Once everyone was ready we had to start the blessing and then leave for the church. It was not much of a distance from the house. So we all reached the church first and then the car went to pick up the bride.
After the nuptials were over, we congratulated the newly wedded couple and then we took some great photographs.
It was a great experience altogether. It was my first time being a bridesmaid. Truely a wedding to remember and moreover even a memorable trip to amche Goa. Goa can never disappoint us 😃😁. It was also great meeting all my family members some of them who had come from even out of India.
Here I come to the end of my post. I would like to further invite @thaizmaita, @mohammadfaisal and @dequeen for this contest.
Saludos cordiales amiga @esther, hermosas fotografías, gracias por su invitación, le deseo mucho éxito.
