Hi Friends, Wishing you all a Happy Week. Hope everyone’s week has started on a good note. I am here with another travel diary post. As you all might have read in my previous post I was in Goa to attend my Friend’s wedding. Here’s my previous post.
Ready to begin the Day 😎
We left from Goa a day later after the engagement. We caught the Rajdhani express from Madgaon station and alighted the train at Mangalore Junction. Since we had almost a week till the next wedding, we thought of roaming around other places like Mysore and Ooty. They say that Ooty is the number 1 travel destination in India. So we were really excited to cover that destination.
As Mysore is a small hill station so our train would not stop there for a long time, so we decided that we would get down at Mangalore Junction where the train would Atleast stop for 5 mins. So we were suppose to reach Mangalore at 12:05 pm but the train got delayed and instead we reached around 2:45 pm. As soon as we got out of the station, we looked for a cab driver. Our plan was to drive to Mysore, where we had booked a hotel. It was already around 3:30 when we got a cab. As a result we reached Mysore at almost 9:45 pm.
At Mysore Hotel
So here I’ll share about my first day in Mysore. As soon as we reached the hotel, we freshened up and had our dinner. We slept early as we needed to be fresh the next morning. The temperature in Mysore was around 17 degrees Celsius. So there was no need for fans or air conditioners. We woke up at 6 a.m the next morning and booked a cab.
The first place we planned to visit was Gumbaaz and then the Tipu Sultan’s palace, which is also known as the Summer Palace both located at a place called Srirangapatna. Tipu Sultan was an Indian fighter who was the ruler of Mysore. Entire Mysore is full of historical places having some relevance to the family of Tipu Sultan. The Palace was amazing, and it had a museum inside it that depicted the ancient history and dynasty of Tipu. It depicted everything about pre-independence India and how the Britishers were ruling India at that point in time.

Tipu’s Jail
The next place that we visited was Tipu’s Jail. This was a place where Tipu captured the Britishers, which is also known as Colonel Bailey’s Dungeon. It’s a place where they were nailed to the walls and were kept near the crocodiles as a punishment. My mom even posed as a prisoner to see how they could be held 😅. After that, while we were leaving the palace, we saw horseback riding in the park, and immediately I said I would try to get on a horse. It was a fun little experience.

The Dam
We soon then visited a dam nearby. Our driver even showed us the Triveni Sangam, which was the confluence of the rivers Cauvery, Lokapavani, and Hemavati, which has a holy significance in the Hindu religion. After passing by the dam, we had planned to go to Brindavan Gardens, which had a light show in the evening at 6:30 pm. Hence we had to reach quickly in the evening.
Tipu Sultan and the beautiful wall painting of his reign
When we entered the garden, it was really a sight to see. Especially the fountains were just so beautiful. We took a lot of pictures and enjoyed the light show in the evening. After this we called it a day and headed back towards our hotel as it had already turned dark.

Here finally I come to the end of the first day in Mysore. I hope you all enjoyed reading this blog post. I will be back with the continuation of this trip. Until then bye take care. And don’t forget to share your thoughts and feedback in the comments section.
